Ryan Garcia offering “fair deal” to Haney: Can Devin swallow his pride?

Ryan Garcia took to social media today to let Devin Haney and the fans know that he’s going to offer him “the most fair deal” to make the fight happen between them next. Kingry says the only one that can stop the fight from taking place is Haney. It’s in his hands.

Ryan’s “fair deal” comment is code language to let Haney know who the star is in this fight. Haney’s title means zero when it comes to fans; he’s not a draw.

Devin is essentially a paper champion at 140 because he beat an old guy on his last leg, 35-year-old Regis Prograis, and came into the fight weighing 165 lbs, meaning he was four divisions above the light welterweight class.

The “Fair Deal” Ultimatum

If Haney’s pride gets in the way, as it did recently when he stubbornly refused to fight Gervont Davis with weight stipulations, he’ll be out of luck and won’t get the Ryan fight.

It would be best for Haney to swallow his pride and stay humble because he fumbled his last attempt at getting a fight by failing to agree to what was needed to fight the King of the 135-lb division.

Pride is Devin’s enemy and must be resisted at all costs. He needs to accept whatever terms Ryan offers him; otherwise, he’s going to be stuck defending his WBC belt against Sandor Martin, and good luck trying to sell that fight on DAZN PPV.

These two things were established in Haney’s recent fight against WBC 140-lb champion Regis Prograis on December 9th on DAZN PPV:

1. He can’t sell PPVs: Haney-Prograis reportedly brought in 45K PPV buys in the U.S. and 10K worldwide, for a total of 55K.
2. Devin’s rehydrated weight: 165 lbs, meaning he’s NOT a light heavyweight, but rather junior middleweight [154-lb division].
3. Haney’s fighting style is not fan-friendly: His fighting style is a knockoff version of Shakur Stevenson. Devin is like an imitation of Shakur but an imperfect copy. He lacks reflexes, speed, mobility, and defensive talent.

Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) didn’t attempt to hide the fact that he’s the A-side, the guy that brings in the PPV buys, sells tickets, and the money guy for the fight against Haney (31-0, 15 KOs), who is the WBC light welterweight belt-holder and nothing else.

Ryan Garcia’s masterclass power play

“Everyone wants to know what I feel about my next fight. My whole thing was I gave the fans an option, and everybody, even if it was close, they wanted me to fight Haney, and that’s how I wanted to move,” said Ryan Garcia on social media, talking about why he chose to try and put a fight together with WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney.

Ryan is the people’s champion, and he’s willing to give the fans want they want by facing Haney next. But he’s letting Devin know the negotiations will be done on his terms, and his WBC belt holds no value. The fans don’t care about that belt.

What matters is Ryan’s 11 million Instagram followers, who will happily purchase his fights on DAZN PPV.

“If you guys decide something, I want to do everything in my power to make that happen,” Ryan Garcia continued. “Just like you guys wanted me to fight Tank that time, even though I had to do a lot of things to make it happen, I went [and did it] because I want to be a man of my word to you guys.

“You guys can trust me. Each time I say something, I’m going to try and do it. The same thing here. You guys wanted this [Haney fight], and now I’m making it happen. I’ve been messaging Devin, and Devin at times has messaged me back,” said Ryan.

Kingry is building his fan appeal by giving them what they want, but he’s obviously not going to let Haney call the shots, especially when he’s doing him a solid by choosing to fight him.

Again, if Ryan didn’t show Haney interest, his options would be Sandor Martin or IBF champion Subriel Matias. Those are both terrible choices for Haney for different reasons.

“I messaged Eddie [Hearn]. I messaged everybody you could think of that could make this fight happen,” said Ryan. “Look, it’s looking like it. The only thing that could stop it from happening is him [Haney]. That’s it because I’m ready to fight.

Can Haney dance to the tune of “Fair”?

“Im also ready to make the most fair and honorable deal to make the fight happen. So, that’s where I stand. If he doesn’t want that, then that’s the only time it won’t happen, and guess what? It will be exposed,” said Ryan.

Garcia is letting Haney know that he should be grateful for this opportunity to share the ring with the PPV star and accept whatever crumbs are offered.

“Devin, you want this fight. I want this fight. Tank doesn’t want to fight you. I do, point blank, period. So, if you want to fight me and I want to fight you, then there you go. It shouldn’t change anything,” said Ryan.

“That’s the plan. I’m very interested in defeating Devin Haney,” said Ryan.
