Boxing Results: Irma Garcia Defeats Stephanie Silva!

In the Main Event, 42 year-old southpaw Irma Garcia, 22-5-1 (4), #114 ¼, of Mexico City, MEX, EBU Euro Super Fly champ Stephanie Silva, 8-0 (0), #115, of Roma Lazio, IT, 10×2 rounds.

In the first two rounds Garcia dominated. In the third round Silva came back well taking the round. In the fourth round Silva put the pressure on Garcia forcing her to the ropes for the most part. In the fifth round it was Garcia having Silva in trouble throughout.

In the seventh round Silva continued on the attack. In the ninth round Silva rocked Garcia with an overhand right to the chin in the final minute.

In the tenth and final round there was a lot of mauling one another as Referee White had his hands full.

Scores were 99-90 by all judges.

In the co-feature Featherweight Jose Luis Castillo, 27-4 (20), #127, of Empalme, Sonora, MEX, and Boston, MASS, lost to 18 year-old Michael Bracamontes, 8-1-1 (4), #127, of Santa Anna, CA, over 8 rounds.

In the first four rounds each took two having it even. In the fifth through the seventh Bracamontes kept the pressure on Castillo having a slight edge. In the eighth and final round at the halfway point Castillo hurt Bracamontes with a left hook to the body.

Scores were 80-72 twice and 78-74 as did KH.

Super Welterweight southpaw Fernando ‘El Feroz’ Vargas, Jr., 13-0 (12), #152 ½, of Las Vegas, NV, stopped southpaw Wilfredo ‘La Roca’ Buelvas, 24-18 (18), #153 ½, of Barranquilla, COL, at 1:02 of the second round of a scheduled 8 rounds.

In the first rounds final seconds Vargas landed a pair of lefts to the chin driving Buelvas under the bottom rope for an 8-count from Referee David Solivan as the bell sounded seconds later. In the second round a lead left to the body and down went Buelvas for the count. Vargas is the son of former world champion Fernando Vargas.

Featherweight Nathan ‘El Morenito’ Rodriguez, 13-0 (8), #128, of Pico Rivera, CA, defeated Giovanni ‘Baby Face’ Gutierrez, 11-6-1 (6), #131, of Tipitapa, NIC, over 6 rounds.

In the first rounds midway point Gutierrez was hurt with a body shot from Rodriguez. In the second and third rounds Rodriguez continued putting the pressure on Gutierrez.

In the fourth round Gutierrez was dropped with a body shot for an 8-count halfway through the round. A flurry of punches dropped Gutierrez again for an 8-count. He got up and fought back to the bell.

In the sixth and final round Rodriguez kept the pressure on Gutierrez.

All scores 60-52 as did KH.

Welterweight southpaw Miguel Gaona, 4-0 (3), #146, of L.A., CA, knocked out southpaw Paulo Figueroa, 3-2 (2), #144, of Pachua, Hidalgo, MEX, at 1:02 of the first round of a scheduled 4 rounds.

In the first round a lead left uppercut to the ribs from Gaona and down went Figueroa for the count.
