Ryan Garcia fighting in November or December

By Adam Baskin: Ryan Garcia will return to the ring in November or December, possibly against the serviceable Pedro Campa in a confidence-booster-level fight.

Campa (34-3-1, 23 KOs) would be a risky fight for Ryan, as the 31-year-old Mexican fighter is a good body puncher and as tough as they come.

You have to believe that Campa would follow Gervonta Davis’s blueprint on how to beat Ryan by targeting his body to stop him.

If gets stopped by Campa, it’s safe to say his career as a major player would be over because if he can’t beat this level of fighter at 140, how would he ever hope to defeat the killers like Gary Antuanne Russell, Arnold Barboza Jr., Teofimo Lopez, and Richardson Hitchins?

The WBA belt is the one Ryan & Golden Boy are targeting, but the current champion Rolly Romero is out with an injury, and it’s unknown how long he’ll be sidelined.

There’s no word yet whether Ryan’s November or December fight will be on pay-per-view, but it’s possible that could happen.

“Plans are in the works for Ryan Garcia to return to the ring in November or December, with Pedro Campa one of the leading candidates to get the fight,” said Dan Rafael on his Fight Freaks site.

“Fighting at the end of this year,” said Ryan Garcia on Twitter.

With Ryan’s popularity, thanks to his 11 million+ followers on Instagram, he can any of his fights on PPV and bring in a load of buys to make easy money, not that he’s hurting in that department.

Ryan is already quite wealthy and set for life financially. He can add to that with his next fight this year, but he’s going to have to be careful because everyone that he fights will be attacking his Achilles heel by going after his midsection from now on.

The 25-year-old Ryan (24-1, 19 KOs) needs to get back in the ring after picking up a massive $20 million payday in his fight with Tank Davis last April, which turned out badly for him, losing by a seventh round body shot knockout.

Ryan’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya, had talked of him fighting for the vacant WBA light welterweight title against Ohara Davies, but that doesn’t look like an option.

Ohara is the mandatory for the WBA 140-lb belt held by Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, and he’s currently out with an injury. Once Rolly returns, Ohara will likely fight him next.
