Reynoso didn’t mention Terence Crawford, who has been calling out King Canelo night & day, trying to entice him by letting him know on social media that a bout between them would be the “biggest fight in boxing.

If Crawford was willing to take some risks with his career and stop playing it safe 24/7 like he’d been doing for the last 15 years. In that case, he’d move up to 168 and prove himself worthy of meeting with the royal heinous Canelo inside the ring by defeating David Benavidez and/or David Morrell Jr. to prove he’s worthy of a fight. Crawford must slay the two fire-breathing dragons that are outside Canelo’s castle, trying to get past his drawbridge & moat.

Is it too much to ask for Crawford to beat Benavidez & Morrell to get to the highest ground to meet with King Canelo in his castle in Las Vegas? Present the scalps of those two to the King, and there’s a good chance that Canelo will grant a boon to Crawford by giving him what he’s asking for.

Canelo (59-2-2, 39 KOs) isn’t taking the bait thus far, and he knows that his loyal fans want him to climb bigger mountains than Crawford, who will likely retire after next year.

Jermell (35-1-1,19 KOs) is a capable opponent, and he’ll be giving it his best shot on September 30th, trying to solve the Canelo puzzle that has stumped so many other fighters during his long career.

Charlo will try to box Canelo, using his reach & jab to stay out of harm’s way.

Canelo had to change training camp

“It’s going to be a great fight. Jermell Charlo has proven and accomplished a lot in his career. He’s a world class fighter, and I think we get an excellent match-up,”  said Canelo’s trainer Eddy Reynoso to Premier Boxing Champions when asked why Jermell Charlo was picked out for Alvarez to fight.

“There’s a time in a career where you have to change things up as far as a training camp standpoint, and we spent five or six years in San Diego and got some great results there.

“It was very good to us, but being here in Lake Tahoe. The altitude is very good to us, and we feel very strong here, and it’s been terrific to be here in the mountains in the altitude,” said Reynoso.

The high altitude training that Canelo has done during this camp should pay dividends, with his stamina improved and giving him the energy that he needs to wear Jermell down in the championship rounds.

In Canelo’s last few fights, he’s gassed out in the later rounds, and that’s resulted in him losing a fight to Dmitry Bivol and coming close to getting beaten by Gennadiy Golovkin in their trilogy.

Canelo is ready to fight whoever it might be, but right now, we are squarely focused on Jermell Charlo, and that’s our task on September 30th. We’re ready for whoever comes our way following September 30th, but that’s who we have our sights set on,” said Reynoso when asked who comes next for Canelo after Jermell.

It’s a good idea for Canelo not to think ahead of his fight with Jermell because this isn’t going to be a walk in the park. Like all fighters that face Canelo, they raise the level of their game and fight tooth & nail, knowing what’s at stake monetarily if they win.

“As long as Canelo keeps his focus being as he is. He hasn’t taken much damage, and he has quite a bit of energy. As long as Canelo has a love for the sport, Canelo can continue to fight for the next several years and continue in his career,” said Reynoso.
