By Jim Calfa: Trainer Eddy Reynoso says Canelo Alvarez is 100% ready & 100% healthy for his fight against Jermell Charlo on Saturday night.

Canelo’s left hand problem is no longer an issue, and he’ll be ready to defend his undisputed super middleweight title against Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Canelo had to pull himself away from the golf courses to get ready for this fight. Hopefully, his mind is on boxing and not on golf because he’ll lose for sure

Jermell is a dangerous opponent for Canelo because punches harder than John Ryder, Dmitry Bivol, Caleb Plant, Billy Joe Saunders, Avni Yildrim, and Rocky Fielding. His power is close to Gennadiy Golovkin.

If Canelo’s hand is still a problem for him, he’s going to be in trouble on Saturday night because Jermell wants to hurt him.

Reynoso’s comment about Canelo being 100% healthy means that if loses or struggles to win, he can’t blame his performance on his left hand like he did after his loss to WBA light heavyweight champion Bivol and in his last two fights against Gennadiy Golovkin &  Ryder.

In other words, Canelo will need to accept that he wasn’t good enough. Jermell is going to be off the leash on Saturday night, attacking Canelo like an attack dog, and he won’t be stopped until the final bell.

“Fighters tend to talk a lot when they don’t have the fight, but once they do have the fight, they tend to be really respectful. A champion like Charlo has been a class act and very respectful. I noticed that when fight time comes, the respect comes with it,” said Canelo’s trainer Eddy Reynoso to Fighthype’s forum, talking about Jermell Charlo being polite during the build-up to Saturday’s fight in Las Vegas.

“He’s the kind of fighter that is going to come out to do his fight or at least try to use his combinations when he gets a little closer, but not too close,” said Espinoza when asked if Jermell would run around the ring.

“The physical setbacks are over and done with. We had dealt with some adversity in the past, but Canelo has the best fusion of experience & youth. He’s still young and has a lot to give, and we’re 100% ready and 100% healthy and ready to show it on Saturday night,” said Reynoso when asked if Canelo is finally healthy.

“It’s about recapping & dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s and making sure we’re ready for Saturday night. We’re just going to be able to win. We’re going to win because Canelo is going to impose his quality, his experience, and all his skills. They’re going to be on the table, and that’s what’s going to allow him to win on Saturday.

“We’re certainly going to try to go for the knockout, but we know Charlo is a tough fighter, and he’s going to put up a good fight on Saturday.

“Look at what we did. We went from superwelterweight to where we are now. Canelo has walked around at the same weight since he fought Mayweather ten years ago. Why couldn’t Crawford do it when Canelo could? Anything is possible,” said Espinoza about a fight between Canelo& Crawford.

“It would be kind of a peculiar fight and morbid fight where fans are really into it, but you never know. Until it becomes reality, it’ll be just speculation.

“Boxing is always going to be kind. Listen to what Dana White said. ‘Starting to compete,’ right? Mexico and boxing are always going to have stars coming up. From Mayweather to Canelo, there’s going to be an up-and-coming star in the future that is going to take his place.

“So boxing is always going to be the kind of contact sports in Mexico,” said Espinoza when told UFC president that Dana White said he’s going to start placing his events on the Mexican holidays in May & September.
