By Brian Webber: Today, Errol ” Spence Jr., will face off against WBO Welterweight World Champion, Terence “Bud” Crawford at the weigh-in event. Open to public observation, the weigh-in will be broadcasted live, at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT.
Terence Crawford made his grand arrival in Las Vegas along with his team for his undisputed welterweight contest against unified champion Errol Spence Jr this Saturday night at the T-Mobile.
Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) was mostly upbeat today, trying to sell the fight to the fans. Recently, Crawford had come across as hyper-alert, snapping at the interviewers, appearing grumpy and not fun to be around.
WBO welterweight champion Crawford, 36, needs to save his energy for his fight this Saturday night with IBF, WBA & WBC champ Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) because he can’t be tired out from jumping on the media over imagined slights or annoyance about being asked a question that he’d answered before.
If Crawford loses, he can use the rematch clause to force Spence to fight him again. The same goes for Errol. He can force a rematch took.
Terence Crawford: “It feels great. It’s going to be a great night of boxing come Saturday night,” said Crawford during today’s Grand Arrivals in Las Vegas for his fight against Errol Spence Jr this Saturday night. ”
“It’s special to have those who came up with me, that were with me from the ground up, sitting here on the stage.
Ray Flores: “You have been undisputed champion before, but to do it here at 147. Is it going to be even sweeter the second time around?”
Crawford: “It’s going to be even better. That’s why we take the chances that we take. That’s why we fight the fights we fight. This is the fight that the world has been craving for, and what better way to win a fight than to come out and be undisputed?”
Flores: “So for fans that are watching your final comments, I know you’ve mentioned it before, but on Saturday night, July 29th, against Errol Spence Jr, what can the world expect out of Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford?”
Crawford: “Y’all can expect the best Terence Crawford that you’ve ever seen. It’s going to be fireworks, everyone. If you haven’t got your tickets, get your tickets or order the pay-per-view.”
Flores: “You’re a student of the game. Is this a throwback fight where you can go back and etch your name alongside the greats like Mayweather, Leonard, Hagler, and Hearns?”
Crawford: “My name is already up there. It’s just a matter of going out there this week and putting a cherry on top.”
Terence needs to come down from the clouds because he’s not in the same league as Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard & Tommy Hearns. Crawford hasn’t fought the quality opposition to put himself in the same league as those greats. Beating Amir Khan & David Avanesyan isn’t good enough.
Crawford has got to do much more than that if he wants to sit alongside greats like Hagler, Leonard & Hearns.
