By Dan Ambrose: An angry-sounding Canelo Alvarez fired back at his unapproving critics today for voicing their disapproval of his focus on golf instead of training for his September 30th title defense, the hard-working go-getter Jermell Charlo.

Canelo has been bumming around with Pat Mahomes on the golf course and not training for his important fight with the highly ambitious. Jermell, who is looking to rip that King’s crown that he likes to wear off his head.

In the video that Canelo posted, his punches looked slow and not showing nearly the same kind of energy that we’d witnessed from Jermell Charlo’s training video posted this week.

It looked like Canelo was conserving precious energy, being miserly with his punches while working out with coach Eddy Reynoso.

A defiant Canelo barked, I’m always ready, making it clear he’s already forgotten how unprepared he was for his fight last year against Dmitry Bivol. It’s so sad how in denial Canelo is.

Canelo hasn’t learned from the past and is half-stepping it in preparation, just like he did for thaat fight. We saw the Mexican star fade in his last three fights against John Ryder, Gennadiy Golovkin, and Bivol, showing that his cardio is not at the level it needs to be.

Let me tell you one thing. I don’t need to get ready because I’m always ready, mother f***ker,” said angry-sounding Canelo said on Instagram, reacting to criticism from fans about him golfing instead of training for his fight against Jermell Charlo on September 30th.

Canelo didn’t really need to throw in the last part, calling his loyal fans “Mother f***kers” just because they’ve collectively criticized him for spending time with NFL quarterback Pat Mahomes.

That was the one where Canelo gassed out after round three and took an embarrassingly one-sided loss to the superiorly conditioned Bivol. After the fight, Canelo admitted that he had trained right. It’s unknown if his golf hobby is what got in the way of his training for Bivol.

Fans see Canelo’s carefree, lazy, and non-engaged approach to his fight with Jermell as a sign that he’s not focused the way he should be in preparing for what could be another embarrassing defeat.

Canelo has the classic signs of a guy that has let malaise set in and is no longer willing to work hard as young, hungry fighters thaat aren’t filthy rich, sitting on a massive $200+ million fortune.
