Canelo Alvarez says it’s him “vs. everybody”

By Dan Ambrose: Canelo Alvarez came out of the woodwork this week to post on Twitter,  saying it’s him versus “everybody,” which, if true, would mean that he’d be facing his master Dmitry Bivol in a rematch to avenge his loss and then taking on the two killers at 168, David Morrell Jr & David Benavidez instead of waiting for them to pick each other off.

If it were true that Canelo was taking on “everybody,” he would face his demons and gather his courage to run the gauntlet against these six fighters consecutively:

1. Dmitry Bivol
2. David Benavidez
3. David Morrell Jr
4. Artur Beterbiev
5. Demetrius Andrade
6. Errol Spence Jr

Boxing fans see what Canelo’s immediate game is, carefully selecting the weakened lamb Jermall Charlo to take advantage of 2+ years of inactivity from the ring to send him down to his first defeat and then claim credit for being the first to defeat the once highly respected 160-lb champion.

Jermall shouldn’t even be on Canelo’s list of fighters that he faces as part of his three-fight deal with PBC because he’s been too inactive, and the slurring that he was doing in interviews is worrisome. Charlo doesn’t sound like he’s there anymore.

“I have Canelo as a B++. I’m not judging him on his opposition or anything like that,” said Shawn Porter on his Youtube channel. “I see a lack of stamina throughout a twelve round fight, and I see a lack of game-planning, especially against Dmitry Bivol.

“Then you come back to your trilogy fight against GGG, and you fight the same way you fought the first two fights, and then you pull back at the end of that fight as well,” Porter continued about Canelo.

“In the fight against John Ryder, he looked a little bit more like himself, but you could still see that he wasn’t as sharp and as clean and on top of it as he had been in the past.

“I just think between time, the mileage on him now, he’s [Canelo] more of a B++ fighter. He’s certainly not the A+ fighter he was two to three years ago, and I think now is the time for someone like Benavidez, who I think isn’t the star that he should be in the fight game, you become that star if you take on Canelo.

“I think it would be advantageous for Benavidez to get Canelo sooner than later. Not at the end of that three-fight deal, but closer to the beginning. If not the first, the second fight.

“It’s going to be beneficial for Canelo but also for Benavidez as well because the more time that goes by, the more excuses that can be given for Canelo, as opposed to the credit and the respect given to Benavidez.

“Boo Boo Andrade or Jermall Charlo first because if you flip the two, Boo Boo has been more active recently, of course, and that would obviously give time for Jermall to take a tune-up fight,” said Shawn.
