By Vince D’Writer: Undefeated IBF Flyweight champion Sunny Edwards signed with Matchroom Boxing in March 2023, and approximately ten weeks later, he’s set to defend his title against Andres Campos (15-0, 4 KOs) tonight at the OVO Arena in Wembley. The fight will be live on DAZN at 2 pm ET.

Back in April 2021, Edwards defeated Moruti Mthalane by unanimous decision, and won the IBF flyweight title. Since becoming world champion, Edwards has posted three successful title defenses against Jayson Mama, Muhammad Waseem, and Felix Alvarado.

Now Edwards is focused on one last title defense before he turns his attention towards unifying the division. While Edwards is envisioning unification bouts, Andres Campos is determined to derail the champ’s plans by defeating him and taking his IBF strap on the night of June 10th.

A product of Santiago, Chile, Andres Campos started his professional boxing career back in August 2018 with a unanimous decision victory over Guillermo Dejeas. He would continue his winning ways by posting fourteen additional career wins.

The last time Andres Campos competed inside the squared circle was in January 2023 against Dario Ruben Ruiz. Campos took immediate control, as he was able to press forward and dictate the pace of the bout.
With 2:20 remaining in the 4th round, Campos landed a right uppercut to the body that sent Ruiz down to the canvas. Ruiz was able to get up, but seconds later he went down for the second and final time as he got caught with the same uppercut to the body.

Now the number 7 ranked IBF Flyweight contender Andres Campos is ready to fight in the United Kingdom for the first time in his career. He plans on entering the ring as the challenger, but exiting the ring as the newly crowned IBF 112-pound World Champion.

“Sunny Edwards has never fought against anyone like me,” said Campos. “I am by far the best opponent that he will have faced. I have a lot of experience fighting against and defeating undefeated guys from both the amateurs and the pros. I am starving for success. I am so hungry to win this World Title and make history for Chile.”

While Campos plans on making history, the champion Sunny “Showtime” Edwards (19-0, 4 KOs) plans on defending his title in style in front of his home crowd. If he’s successful on Saturday night, Edwards will take aim at the other champions in the flyweight division.

“There’s nowhere for the other champions to hide. One at a time, they will get their turn. What I do is different to anything anyone else does in a boxing ring. The world is waiting, and I think right now, I am the number one Flyweight in the world. I would argue that I am one of the best Flyweights in the world,” Edwards stated.

Sunny Edwards believes he is the best candidate in regards to representing the Flyweight division. He doesn’t like the fact that other boxers in his weight class can call themselves a Flyweight champion.
“It’s not just that I want all the belts, I don’t want anyone else to have them,” said Edwards. “It sickens me, it pains me that there’s three other people at my weight that walk around saying the same s**t that I say.”

Sunny Edwards has big aspirations, as he plans on pursuing his dream of becoming an undisputed champion. However, before he can pursue his ultimate goal, he must first take care of business against Andres Campos on Saturday June 10th, as the televised section of the event is set to get underway at 7 p.m. BST/2 p.m. ET live on DAZN.
