Regis Prograis picks Gervonta Davis over Ryan Garcia “by stoppage”

By Adam Baskin: Regis Prograis says Ryan Garcia has nothing but “false confidence” going for him, and that’s going to keep him afloat long against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis on April 22 when they meet up in their highly anticipated 136-lb catchweight clash on Showtime PPV at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

WBC light welterweight champion Prograis sees Tank (28-0, 26 KOs) blasting out Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) in the later rounds of the contest. It could happen earlier, but that will depend on how reckless Kingry is.

What could make this a short fight is the combination of these two factors:

1.) 136-lb catchweight
2.) 10-lb rehydration clause

Ryan must have been incredibly naive & desperate for him to agree to those two weight stipulations to get the Tank fight because he would have surely gotten it if he stuck to his guns and rejected these two handicaps that the Baltimore native demanded.

For Ryan to have agreed to the weight stipulations, shows that he doesn’t see a bright future ahead for himself, so he chose to accept his demands so he can cash out.  If Ryan had believed in himself, he would have never accepted this.

Tank also showed that he lacks the confidence to fight Ryan without a handicap. For him to want his shows mental weakness.

If this was Tank’s management’s idea to force the weight stipulations on Ryan, that tells you that they don’t have confidence in him because they thought he was good enough to win without a handicap, they’d have never done this.

It’s unbelievable that Tank & his management couldn’t see the backlash that could come from ramming the weight stipulations down the throat of Ryan. Were they collectively that dense?

“I got Tank by stoppage. It’s probably in the later rounds, I don’t think the early rounds,” said Regis Prograis to Fighthype, picking Gervonta Davis over Ryan Garcia by knockout.

What I see in Ryan Garcia is false confidence,” Prograis continued. “With Tank, I think I see absolute confidence like he knows what will happen.”

Prograis has got it wrong about Ryan having any kind of confidence in this fight. He obviously has none, which is why he agreed to the weight stipulations instead of telling Tank & his management to stick them where the sun don’t shine.

“Tank is a very skilled fighter, even more, skilled than Ryan Garcia. He’s not just a big puncher, as people say,” said Prograis.

If he beats Ryan, maybe he will come to 140 and tries to fight for a belt. That’ll be a real big fight,” said Prograis about defending his WBC light welterweight title against Gervonta.
