By Sean Jones: Ryan Garcia says he will “destroy” Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis on April 22ned on Showtime PPV at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Kingry insists he’s NOT going to lose to Tank (28-0, 26 KOs), who he views as a fighter that has never fought anyone with punching power like his before during his nine-year professional career.

Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) and his promoters believe that Tank is worried about him and were hoping the fight wouldn’t happen. They feel that was the reason Davis the 10-lb rehydration, to either drain or make him not agree to the fight.

It would be catastrophic for the 28-year-old Davis to lose this fight because views himself as the ‘face of boxing’, and getting beaten at this stage would be a disaster for him before he’d taken on the other big names in the sport.

“I’m not going to let myself lose this fight.,” said Ryan Garcia to Fighthype after the LA press conference with Gervonta Davis. “I’m coming to knock him out. I’m ready to destroy him.

Why Tank Davis included a rehydration clause

“I want to whip your a**. I don’t want no excuse when I beat you from you, saying, ‘I had to dehydrate, and I couldn’t rehydrate,'” said Bernard Hopkins of Golden Boy Promotions to the media, talking about the rehydration clause that Ryan Garcia had to agree to for him to get the fight against Gervonta Davis.

“Listen, I want to fight you at the contract weight that we agreed to. That’s all I care about. I have no excuse, and I don’t want you to have no excuse. So that, to me, shows, ‘I really don’t want to fight you, and I’m doing everything to make you say I’m not doing that’ and we wouldn’t be here.’

“I’m going to say again, ‘Ryan Garcia made concessions to make this fight happen.’ It was dead on arrival four times. I gave up the third time until I got that call and I was in New York, and now  I’m here, thanks to Oscar De La Hoya.

“He didn’t get up there sticking his chest out. I know for sure this fight was dead.

“That’s all he might need. I doubt it, but you never now,” said Hopkins when asked his thoughts on Tank Davis, saying that all Ryan has, is a left hook. “We all know, and Tank knows he has more than that. Tank ain’t crazy.

“That just tells everybody that he [Ryan Garcia] has a dangerous left hook. He recognizes it. I’m not going to tell you about your left hook because I don’t want you to throw it at me.

“I don’t think it’s smart, but he thought it was. I’m not going to tell you what I know of you. Nah, that’s my secret. I think protecting your record is over,” said Bernard.
