By Chris Williams: Ryan Garcia looked visibly shaken from the prolonged face-off he had with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis today in their kick-off press conference in New York for their April 22 fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Tank (28-0, 26 KOs) scolded Ryan during the face-off, causing him to look away with his face showing that he’d been through a horrible experience.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Ryan looked like he was going to cry, but he appeared in shock from the impact of the stare-down and the menacing words from Tank.

There will be another press conference on Thursday in Los Angeles, and it could be just as bad for Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) unless he recovers from what he went through in facing Tank.

It reminded Chris Williams of how Ryan looked when he was discussing how Tank had ripped his chain off his neck during a meeting at a nightclub. Ryan looked like he was falling apart in talking about what had transpired between him and Tank.

“I know what it takes. Some of these guys don’t got what it takes. They’re front runners,” said Gervonta Davis to Premier Boxing Champions when asked what he said to Ryan Garcia during their face-off at the end of today’s press conference.

“They play that front-runner role, but they don’t got that dog in them,” Tank Davis continued. “I feel like I’m the face of boxing right now. I don’t want to be too cocky, but there are a lot of fighters that do everything I do.

“It was like when Floyd was coming through and when Oscar was coming through. It’s something you can’t teach. It’s just in you. When Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, and all the greats were coming through. Everyone wanted to be like that.

“That’s why everyone is calling my name. They’re not calling because they want to get in there, but it’s also like envy too. They want my spot. That’s what keeps me on my game. It’s not about the money no more. It’s about showing these guys that it’s not really like that.

“Guys that want my spot, I’m here to stay, and that’s what it is. No, I don’t think skills-wise he’s on my level,” said Tank about Ryan Garcia.
