Gervonta Davis fires back at Mike Tyson over comparison comment
By Adam Baskin: Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis fired back at Mike Tyson on social media in retaliation for the heavyweight legend telling an interviewer that Tank’s fighting style didn’t remind him how he used to fight. In response to Tyson’s comment, Gervonta agreed with him but made the snide remark, “I have more skills.”
Tyson said what does remind him of himself is how Gervonta gets in trouble with the law. It didn’t seem like Iron Mike was trying to purposefully take a shot at Tank Davis by saying that his style didn’t remind him of how he used to fight because the truth is, the two are totally different.
Tyson used to wade in and attack his opponents with powerful, blistering combinations. Gervonta doesn’t fight like that, and he’s not explosive or as fast as Tyson was, even though he’s much smaller. Tank is the polar opposite of Mike Tyson with his style, especially the way he falls behind even mediocre fighters like Rolly Romero.
“I don’t know. Maybe just getting in trouble with the law. Other than that, no,” said Mike Tyson to Fighthype when asked if Gervonta Davis’ fighting style reminds him of how he used to fight.
Even with Tyson being 90+ lbs heavier than the lightweight Gervonta, he had better hand speed, was a better combination puncher, and was a more exciting fighter.
In an area even more critical, Tyson fought far better competition during his career than Gervonta has. Let’s be honest. The former Mayweather Promotions fighter Tank Davis has been spoonfed weak opposition during his nine-year professional career and has not fought the best in any of the weight classes he’s competed. It’s sad, really.
I agree. I have more skills 🤝 https://t.co/pY7cp2vQrH

Tank’s fans don’t seem to grasp how weak his resume is, as they don’t realize that he’s NEVER fought any of the elite in any of the three weight classes he’s competed in.
It’s disappointing seeing how weakly Tank has been matched during his 10-year career, and he’ll never be like Tyson. By the time Mike Tyson was Gervonta’s age, he’d gained far more fame and fought better competition.
