Ryan Garcia tells Gervonta Davis: “Goodbye, Tank, it’s over for you”

By Craig Daly: Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis told the media at the post-fight press conference last night that Ryan Garcia is a “baby clown” after being told that he had said on Twitter, “It’s over for you” following his ninth round knockout victory over Hector Luis Garcia at the Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C.

The unbeaten WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Tank Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) said that negotiations for a fight with Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) are heading in “right direction” and he’s just waiting for the popular Instagram star to “accept” his side.

If Ryan stubbornly refuses to take the offer, Gervonta will likely move on and head in the direction of facing Devin Haney, Shakur Stevenson, or Frank Martin.

Those are obviously appealing options for huge fights for Tank Davis to take in the absence of a mega-bout with Ryan Garcia.

“If it’s up to me, Ryan is definitely next. We somewhat got everything going in the right direction,” said Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis at the post-fight press conference. “We’re just waiting for Ryan to accept his side, and let’s get the job done.

“They’re waiting for that money. They’re waiting to get that money,” said Tank Davis when told that Golden Boy Promotions boss Oscar De La Hoya, the promoter for Ryan Garcia, said on social media that they’re waiting for him now. Jake Paul is a clown and Ryan is a baby clown,” said Gervonta when told that Ryan said on Twitter, “It’s over for you.”

Kingry set to make generational money

Ryan Garcia is eager to get this fight with Tank Davis underway for obvious reasons. The money that the Golden Boy star Ryan will make from a single fight with Gervonta will be generational, meaning it will last not only his life but also his children’s.

On paper, the Davis vs. Garcia fight doesn’t look like it will be all that competitive beyond the first quarter of the fight, as the two fighters are at different levels.

In truth, the 24-year-old Ryan’s chances of winning are slim, as he doesn’t possess the technical abilities we saw from Hector Luis Garcia to last nine rounds with a puncher like Tank Davis.

Moreover, Ryan’s punch resistance isn’t good enough to take the shots without nosediving to the canvas, as we saw in Kingry’s fight with Luke Campbell in 2021.
