By Jim Calfa: Hector Luis Garcia let the media know on Thursday at the final press conference that the “real Garcia” was standing before them ahead of Saturday’s fight with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis at the Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C.

Tank (27-0, 25 KOs) already has a planned fight against the secondary Garcia, Ryan Garcia, and that’s the contest that Hector plans on wrecking by winning on Saturday night.

If Hector wins, Ryan will have to wait in line until after the rematch for him to get a shot at Gervonta. With Ryan, he would need to return to the ring regardless.

Ryan might not want to stay busy while waiting for the Tank-Hector rematch because he doesn’t want to risk losing out on his life-changing payday by getting beaten by one of the contenders at 140 or 135, but he’ll have to do so. He can’t just sit on his backside for an entire year waiting for his cash out against Tank.

“Everyone is going to see the results on Saturday night,” said Hector Garcia during Thursday’s final press conference.

The REAL Garcia is right here. I don’t care who he’s focused on, because I know that I’m the true challenge,” said Hector in taking a jab at Tank Davis about his next potential fight being against Ryan Garcia should he come out victorious on Saturday night.

We’ll see how well Gervonta handles the highly skilled Hector Garcia on Saturday night because this isn’t the type of guy he’ll be able to walk down as he did against Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero.

If Tank uses the same game plan as he did against Rolly, Hector will make him look bad and give him a boxing lesson like his last two opponents, Roger Gutierrez and Chris Colbert. Tank has better power than those two, but he’s not as technically skilled.

“I feel equally comfortable at 130 and 135 pounds,” Hector said. “I can fight at whatever distance the fight requires me to. I can use my reach or my power. I’m going to be ready.”

Tank is going to be attempting to get in close so that he can land his short, compact shots on the chin of Hector and hope that he can score a highlight reel knockout.

“Gervonta better watch out on Saturday night because he lit the competitive fire under me when he put his hands on me during the face-off,” said Garcia.
