By Jim Calfa: Liam ‘Beefy’ Smith is confident that he’ll defeat Chris Eubank Jr in the rematch if he elects to go in that direction after he was blown out in four rounds on Saturday night in their highly publicized fight on DAZN at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.

Eubank Jr (32-3, 23 KOs) suffered the worst defeat of his twelve-year professional career in getting dropped twice in a fourth round knockout in front of a large crowd at the AO Arena.

If Eubank Jr chooses not to activate his rematch clause, Smith (33-3-1, 20 KOs) says he’s got a  lot of great options for his next fight. Two of them are Kell Brook and Gennadiy Golovkin.

Eubank Jr has already confirmed that he plans on taking the rematch with Smith next. So unless he has second thoughts, we’re going to see those two run it back, perhaps in the summer.

Brook would likely be the easier fight to make for Smith, but you never know. Golovkin might be intrigued by the idea of facing ‘Beefy’ Smith after seeing how much interest and excitement was involved in his fight with Eubank Jr.

“He has to sit with his own team to see if he wants this rematch, but I’m open to any [fight],” said Liam Smith at the post-fight press conference when asked if he’s planning on giving Chris Eubank Jr a rematch.

“I have to,” said Smith when asked if he’ll take the rematch. “I beat him once; I’ll beat him twice. This has to be right for me on my terms. Obviously the money terms, and we might do it at 157.

“I feel as good as ever. When I have results like this, I’m far from the end. He’ll sit down with his team to decide if he wants the rematch. If he wants the rematch, I’ll give it to him.

“We got good options; I’m in a good position. Kell [Brook] said he wants to fight the winner, and that’s a huge fight. Another is Golovkin. I’m in a good position at 160, as well as 154. Just to get the win, that’s all that mattered today.

“I can go back to 154 if necessary. We’ll see who is available and who is right for me and my team,” said Smith.
