Crawford reacts to Jermell Charlo & Errol Spence freezing him out

By Sam Volz: Terence Crawford slammed Jermell Charlo on social media on Friday in reaction to being frozen out by him. Terence is letting Jermell know that Errol Spence Jr is calling the shots for him by blocking the fight.

Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) wants to fight the undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell (35-1-1, 19 KOs), but that’s not going to happen, according to Errol Spence Jr, who said if he can’t get a fight against him, he won’t get Charlo.

Crawford hurt his credibility recently by giving up on the negotiations with Spence so that he could fight little-known David Avanesyan on BLK Prime on December 10th.

That was a weak move on Crawford’s part to give up on the negotiations with Spence to fight Avanesyan. It made Crawford look scary & untrustworthy because he negotiated with Avanesyan without telling Spence.

Errol has already said that he’s not going to be fighting Crawford next. He didn’t give a reason why he won’t fight Crawford next, but it could be due to his recent car accident, which left him with some bumps & bruises.

Also, Spence might not be willing to put himself in a position of having Crawford walk out of their negotiations for a second time, making him look silly for wasting time.

It’s likely that Crawford will need to fight Spence first before he’s given a chance to fight Jermall because he’s not going to be able to skip to the next division without proving himself against Spence at 147 first.

Crawford said earler this week that he’s ready to “spin the block” to restart negotiations with Spence now that he’s done with his fight with Avanesyan.

However, Spence probably won’t fight Crawford next because of the car accident and the way he did him by disappearing during their negotiations.

Spence will likely take an easy tune-up fight against one of the contenders at 147 next before he looks to restart talks with Crawford if he’s still fighting at welterweight.

Crawford needs to stay busy while he waits for Spence. These would be some good options for Crawford to fight next:

  • Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis
  • Keith Thurman
  • Vergil Ortiz Jr
  • Yordenis Ugas

Crawford has a lot of proving he needs to do with boxing fans to show that he’s capable of sticking it out in negotiations without disappearing.
