Boxing Results: Terence “Bud” Crawford stops David Avanesyan!

By Ken Hissner: At CHI Health Center, Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday PPV Steve Bash (Bash Boxing) and Desmond Gumbs (BLK Prime) presented in the Main Event WBO World Welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford defended against No. 6 ranked David “Ava” Avanesyan.

In the co-feature Featherweight Arnold “Arni” Khegai won a split decision over Eduardo “El Gemelo” Baez.

In the Main Event WBO Welter champ Terence “Bud” Crawford, 39-0 (30), #146 ½, of Omaha, NEB, stopped David “Ava” Avanesyan, 29-4-1 (17), #146 ¾, of Tabynskoe, RUS and Newark, Nottingham, UK, at 2:14 of the sixth of a scheduled 12 rounds.

In the sixth round a crushing right hook knocked Avanesyan down and out.

In the co-feature Feather Arnold “Arni” Khegai, 19-1-1 (11), #126, of Lymanski, UKR and Philadelphia, PA, won a split decision over Eduardo “El Gemelo” Baez, 21-4-2 (7), #125 ¾, of Mexicali, Baja California and Calexico, CA, over 10 rounds.

In the first four rounds Khegai was the aggressor throughout backing Baez to the ropes for the most part. In the fifth round through the eighth rounds Khegai contined coming forward against the durable Baez outworking him. In the ninth Khegai was deducted a point. In the tenth and final round in what became a close fight it looks like Khegai pulled it out!

Scores were 96-93, 95-94 and 94-95.

Referee was Kirk Drake.

Super Middle Steve Nelson, 18-0 (15), #174 ¼, of Omaha, NEB, knocked out James Ballard, 10-5 (3), #175 ½, of Detroit, MI, at ? of the first round of an 8.
