Eubank Jr beats Conor Benn with no problem says Roy Jones Jr

By Barry Holbook: Roy Jones Jr says Chris Eubank Jr will easily defeat Conor Benn on October 8th as long as he doesn’t make mistakes.

Eubank Jr (32-2, 23 KOs) has the advantage in size and experience against Benn (21-0, 14 KOs), and that should be enough for him to win as long as he doesn’t get careless.

Jones isn’t giving any hints about what Eubank Jr will do to make this an easy fight, but he’ll likely stay on the outside the way he did against Liam Williams and pick Benn apart with left hooks.

Conor Benn, 25, is a totally different type of fighter than his famous dad, Nigel Benn. Conor relies more on staying on the outside, looking to land single shots in hopes of stunning his opponents.

Once he has them hurt, then he goes for the kill and flurries until the referee steps in and halts the fight. Nigel was more of an all-out brawler who fought well from the outside and inside.

Conor can’t fight like Nigel, as he lacks the inside game, hand speed, and power, and he’s not comfortable with the punishment that he would be forced to endure to fight in that manner.

The left hook that Eubank Jr possesses, as well as his mobility, is going to make it difficult for Benn to get in position to land his single right-hand pot shots that he likes to throw from the outside.

Without Benn being able to land those shots, he will be at the mercy of Eubank Jr’s superior outside game. If Benn had an inside game like his famous dad, Nigel, he’d have more of a chance of beating Eubank Jr, but he hasn’t had the years to develop that. To be a good inside fighter like Nigel, you got to start early, and you can’t be afraid to get hit.

“I think Eubank wins the fight with no problem, but there are a few things he [will] have to do to make sure he keeps being in check,” Roy Jones said to Fighthype.

“Eubank is probably more experienced, the bigger and the better fighter, so all my thoughts would be towards Eubank.

“But there are some things that Conor could do to cause problems, and I’ve already warned Chris of those things, so I think he’ll be fine.”
