By Dan Ambrose: Promoter Eddie Hearn is excited about the Dmitry Bivol vs. Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez card in less than two weeks from now, on November 5th on DAZN at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi.

Pound-for-pound fighter Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) will defend his WBA light heavyweight title against his mandatory challenger Zurdo Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs) in the headliner.

Many boxing fans are excited to see Bivol fight following his upset victory over superstar Canelo Alvarez on May 7th. Fans want to see a rematch between Bivol and Canelo.

Whether that happens or not will depend on the outcome of Bivol’s fight against the hulking cruiserweight-sized Ramirez, who won’t be an easy match for the WBA champion due to his huge size.

Bivol worked Canelo over with combination punching and used movement & a high guard to prevent the Mexican star from landing his hard shots.

In the case of 31-year-old Ramirez, his best weapon is his left hook to the body. He’s good at bludgeoning his opponents when they have their backs against the ropes.

Ramirez is dangerous against immobile fighters that are there to be hit, so he can use his size & high work rate to pound them. It’s going to be more difficult for Ramirez against Bivol because he uses movement and combination punching.

Like Canelo, Ramirez is a one-punch-at-a-time fighter who loads up on single shots. Also, Ramirez is quite slow of hand and feet, which could hamper him against the faster Bivol.

“This card in Abu Dhabi is one of the best we’ve ever put together,” said Eddie Hearn to DAZN Boxing about the November 5th fight between WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol and Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez.

“Bivol-Ramirez is one of the biggest fights of the year without question. Before the victory over Canelo Alvarez, this was a real 50-50,” Hearn continued.

“Now Bivol has cemented himself in the pound-for-pound list.  I think Ramirez looks huge. He’s a tremendous fighter, an undefeated [former] 168 world champion as well. It’s a great fight,” said Hearn.

“You talk about great female fights. The undisputed 140-pound title between Chantelle Cameron and Jessica McCaskill. IBF super featherweight title between Shavkat Rakhimov and [Zelfa] Barrett. It’s a massive night.

“The whole boxing world should look forward to Bivol against Zurdo. That’s a true elite match-up for the world light heavyweight title,” said Hearn.
