By Adam Baskin: Eddie Hearn says he’s confident Chris Eubank Jr will make weight for his fight against Conor Benn 13 days from now on October 8th on DAZN pay-per-view at the O2 Arena in London.

Eubank Jr (32-2, 23 KOs) has been seen eating high-calorie foods during the build-up to the fight with Benn (21-0, 14 KOs), saying that he only needs to be 60% for him to win.

However, he still must make the 157-lb catchweight and deal with the rehydration clause, which is believed to be 10 lbs. If Eubank Jr comes in overweight, he’s going to be penalized with a fine.

Depending on how badly Eubank Jr misses weight, it could be very costly for him, and it would take a chip off his earnings for the contest.

“He’ll be there on weight. He’s a solid pro,” said Eddie Hearn to Boxing UK about his belief that Chris Eubank Jr will make weight for the October 8th fight against Conor Benn.

“I think Chris has come across quite well in the build-up to this. I think with all due respect to Conor Benn, who I really like as a young man and as a fighter,” said Simon Jordan to talkSPORT Boxing. “I think this is a very unwise fight for him to take.

“I think if Chris Eubank is focused and ready to go, he wins this fight. Chris Eubank talks about fighting world champions but takes domestic fights because he gets paid money.

“What he’s trying to navigate is a route to a vacant title. I don’t know if that’s what Chris Eubank thinks winning a world title involves, then that’s up to him. He’s giving Conor Benn a lecture about how he doesn’t fight at levels. Well, you fought George Groves and Billy Joe Saunders, and you got beat by both of them.

“Conor Benn has fought decent fighters as well. Granados, Algieri, Van Heerden, they’re all decent fighters that might be on their way down,” said Jordan.

“Chris is obviously more experienced than Conor,”  said Ade Oladipo. “I knew he was going to get under the skill of Conor. Conor was just ready to go.

“Chris is fantastic. He’s so good at speaking. He’s such a great talker. Their two dad’s fights were for world titles. There’s nothing on the line in terms of that. I think it’s a risky fight for Conor. You have to favor Chris.

“I’d have to go with the bigger, stronger guy that’s fought at a higher level. They’re rolling the dice with Conor. If Conor wins, he’s a superstar immediately,” said Ade.
