By Sam Volz: Andy Ruiz Jr. says he’s done all the hard work in terms of preparation for his headliner fight against Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz, and now he’s ready to have fun.

Ruiz (34-2, 22 KOs) is highly confident that he’ll have his hand raised at the end of the night in his WBC heavyweight title eliminator against 43-year-old Ortiz (33-2, 28 KOs) on FOX Sports PPV from the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles.

The 32-year-old Ruiz is certainly in excellent shape for the contest, and if he’s able to get his shots off against Ortiz, he’s likely to win. However, with the southpaw Ortiz’s power, he could clip Ruiz at any time and ruin his dreams of capturing another world title.

“Hopefully, tomorrow, I’ll be able to show it off,” said Andy Ruiz Jr to Fighthype about his fight against Luis Ortiz on Sunday night.

“All the hard work and dedication paid off. Now it’s time to have fun tomorrow. I thought I looked better and looked stronger than all the other times. I feel good,” continued Ruiz.

“It’s better to feel good than just to look good. Of course, my whole life, everybody has been talking about my weight. ‘It’s too big, it’s too small,’ but I feel perfect right now.

“My diet, I ate whatever I wanted. Of course, we ate good. They had salmon and rice for me and salad. But on cheat days, I’d eat beans and my ribs at the Texas Roadhouse. It was just not eating in the nighttime.

“When you eat at nighttime, you’re all full, and that’s how you gain weight. I eat as much as I can during the daytime and drink a lot of water in the nighttime. I don’t eat nothing.

“Eight o’clock, and I wake up at eight o’clock and get to work,” said Ruiz.

“We come prepared for everything. To put pressure, to move, the speed, which is going to kill Luis Ortiz,” said Andy Ruiz Sr to Fighthype. “The power, Andy has got a lot of power. Anywhere he hits you to the body, it’s going to hurt.

“Once he starts feeling the punches, he’s going to be coming back. When we win, we’re going to call ‘The Bronze Bomber,’ where are you? Get over here; you’re next,” said Ruiz Sr.
