By Robert Segal: Highly ranked former lightweight world title challenger Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz says he’s working hard striving for a rematch against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. That’s a fight that #3 WBC #3 WBO and #4 IBF Pitbull Cruz is working for.

As for Ryan Garcia, Cruz (23-2-1, 16 KOs) tells him to be “not so anxious” because he needs to “wait his turn” before they fight.

That’s a match-up that Ryan has been chomping at the bit to get in order to show the boxing world what he can do against a fighter that came close to upsetting Tank Davis in December 2021.

For the time being, Pitbull Cruz is fighting Eduardo Ramirez (27-2-3, 12, 12 KOs) in a 12-round fight on the undercard of Andy Ruiz Jr vs. Luis Ortiz on September 4th on FOX Sports PPV at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles.

Cruz working for a rematch with Tank Davis

“Right now, we’re working on acquiring a new fight against Tank Davis,” said Isaac Cruz during a virtual press conference this week ahead of his September 4th fight against Eduardo Ramirez.

“I have to win, taking on every fighter that confronts me. I am going to do the same to give a new fight against him as well,” ‘Pitbull’ Cruz continued about his wish to fight Gervonta in a rematch.

“The fight against Tank Davis absolutely motivated me, and my goal is to face him once again. What I need to do that is simple. Take down every single opponent I have in front of me.

“Right now, I’m focused on Eduardo Ramirez, who is the opponent in turn, and we are going to reach 100 to bring that silver world championship here to Mexico City, Mexico.

Pitbull Cruz open to Ryan Garcia fight

“I am on not closed to any opportunity right now,” said Pitbull Cruz when asked about his thoughts on a fight against Ryan Garcia. “Right now, I am fully focused on an opponent, who is Eduardo Ramirez.

“As I have said, his time will come to Ryan. I would like Ryan not to be so anxious. Wait for your return because when you do get the opportunity to fight me, I hope you don’t back down like many times before and throw this fight away.

“The time will come; just wait,” said Isaac Cruz in sending a message to Ryan Garcia.
