By Huck Allen: Bill Haney has been granted a visa by the Australian government and will be arriving this Saturday, a day ahead of his son, Devin Haney’s undisputed lightweight championship fight against unified champ George Kambosos Jr. on Sunday in Melbourne.

It’s great news that Bill, who also trains the unbeaten WBC 135-lb champion Haney (27-0, 15 KOs), will be able to attend the fight and work his corner.

With Bill now expected to be with Devin on Sunday, that takes away one advantage that the Aussie Kambosos Jr (20-0, 10 KOs) would have had for the fight. But as dialed in Haney is, it probably wouldn’t have mattered one iota if Bill didn’t make it into Australia for the fight.

Devin knows what to do, has the game plan, and is one of those fighters that can adapt on the fly. He doesn’t need to have anyone holding his hand during the fight, as he can think for himself.

“Per Top Rank Boxing, Bill Haney has been granted a last-minute visa and will arrive in Australia Saturday night local time and be in Devin Haney’s corner for his undisputed lightweight title fight with Kambosos on Sunday afternoon Aussie time. #boxing #KambososHaney,” said Dan Rafael on Twitter.

I’m in his head, no problem, and on Sunday, I’ll be in his face,” said George Kambosos Jr. to Fight Hub TV. “That’s the art of war. You never release your information. Unlike him, he likes to release information and talk about other people,” said Kambosos Jr. when asked about the “big guns” that he has planned to get into his mind of Haney before their fight on Sunday.

“I did,’ said Kambosos when asked if he was surprised that Haney gave him tips before his fight with Teofimo Lopez last November.

“I was having dinner one night and all of a sudden my phone buzzed and I saw a Twitter message. It was Devin Haney. All of a sudden, he’s telling me that Teofimo Lopez is at the Hookah lounge and he’s drinking a little emoji.

“I showed my wife. I couldn’t believe it, I’d never met Devin Haney in my life before this. I found it very strange. Lopez beating me would have been a mega-fight between him and Devin Haney in the U.S. It would have been a far bigger fight than me and Haney is at that point back then, but obviously not now.

“So, I found it strange, but the art of war once again. I’ll take it, I’ll accept it. I’m fighting Lopez, I’m not fighting you, but I knew I was going to fight him eventually.

“So, I’m going to use it when I have to use it. If that’s the way he wants to go, I can see the character in the type of person he is. I’m not saying he’s a bad person, but it shows the kind of character,” said Kambosos.
