Rolly Romero: “I’m too big & strong” for Tank Davis

By Dan Ambrose: Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero is predicting he’s going to run the smaller fighter Gerovnta ‘Tank’ Davis down with his size on May 28th to score a quick knockout in their headliner on Showtime PPV at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Rolly (14-0, 12 KOs) believes this is the first of what will be two fights against WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Tank Davis (26-0, 24 KOs) on Showtime. He feels that after he knocks Tank out, there will be a rematch, and he’ll do the same.

With Rolly’s size & punching power, you’ve got to take him seriously because he’s got the frame to do the job on the 5’5 1/2″ Tank. When Rolly is rehydrated, he looks as big as any of the welterweights.

I don’t know how he’s able to make the 135-lb weight limit because he’s huge for the division. No one is giving Rolly a chance, but it was the same situation with Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz.

“Man, I’m too big and too strong for him. I’m twice his size, and on top of that, I punch harder, faster, and I’m a better boxer than him,” said Rolly Romero to The Schmo about his fight with Gervonta Davis in May 28th.

“No matter what he says, that’s the truth. He’s fighting an uphill battle. No, no, no, he’s taking me seriously,” Rolly continued about Tank. “He’s over there training his a** off.

“He’s probably in the best shape of his f*** life, but it doesn’t make a difference. He’s going to be laid out on the damn canvas.

“He’s had twice as many fights as me, so obviously, he’s a more popular fighter, you know?” Rolly said when asked why the judges have him as the favorite.

“At the end of it, boxing and odds go to the popularity contest. We just saw what happened to Canelo. I’m pretty sure I have way more to beat the s*** out of Tank than Bivol does to beat the s*** out of Canelo.

“Nothing but stars. I’m going to go up, and the future is going to be beautiful. You’re going to see this,” said Rolly when asked what his future holds if he successfully beats Gervonta on May 28th.

“I don’t care about Devin Haney. I think he’s a horrible fighter, and I think he’s a chinny fighter. I think he’s very inferior to everyone in the division, and I hope that Kambosos knocks him out.

“I’ll knock Tank out a second time. I don’t give a s*** about this. The person that sells is me. I don’t need them. They need me. The only reason I’m in this position is because they need me because I sell. I’m a popular fighter.

“I’ll do it again because he’s a popular fighter. The only other popular fighter that will make me into a bigger star is me vs. Ryan. I think that’s premature. Me and Ryan will fight at welterweight. Yeah, down the line, you’ll see,” said Rolly.
