Dillian Whyte talks John Fury in his face-off: “My man’s 600 years old and he’s stepping forward”

By Charles Brun: Dillian Whyte says Tyson Fury’s dad John Fury was trying to ruin Saturday’s fight by “trying to start something” during the face-off during today’s final press conference in London. Whyte says he told the “600-years-old” John Fury “This is me & your son’s day” to keep him from trying to steal the limelight from the WBC heavyweight champion Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) in what could be the final fight of his career.

Up until the face-off, the press conference had been an uneventful thing, with Fury & Whyte saying niceties to one another about this and that.

But when it came time for the final face-off, John Fury darted forward and started giving Dillian some lip, gesturing with his hands in an animated way.

The way John came forward to launch into Dillian was a surprise because Whyte hadn’t done any trash-talking during the press conference. John was obviously stewing all this time, angry enough to go after Whyte at the most important point of the press conference.

This Saturday, Fury, and Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs) will meet in the main event at a sold-out Wembley Stadium in London, England.

If Whyte unseats Fury, he’ll move forward to face the winner of the July 23rd rematch between IBF/WBA/WBO Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua for the undisputed championship.

If Fury wins on Saturday, he’s already made it known that he’s retiring. As for his WBC title, it’ll be vacated, and the World Boxing Council will order the two highest-ranked contenders to battle for it.

“Tyson Fury’s dad needs to relax. My man’s 600 years old and he’s stepping forward, and they’re trying not to let my guys on the stage,” said Dillian about his exchange of words with John Fury during his face-off with Tyson on the stage.

“I said to him, ‘Hey, John, calm down, you’re an adult, you keep shouting & screaming, like a child. It’s me & Tyson’s day, relax. Why are you getting yourself involved? This is me & your son’s day.’

He’s always trying to get in front of his son. ‘You’re an old man, take it easy.’ John Fury was trying to start something, and it’s stupid because it’s a big fight.

“He wants to rob the fans, the 90, 90,000 fans out of a fight. John Fury is an idiot. He’s a real IDIOT. I’m good, I’m a professional. I’m good.

“No, because he knows me, he knows the danger I possess and he knows me,” said Dillian when asked if he was surprised at how respectful Fury was to him.

“He knows me and he says a lot of things, but in reality, I knew it was going to be like that, so it’s all good,” said Dillian.
