Kambosos showing HYPER speed training for Lomachenko?

By Sean Jones:  George Kambosos Jr. posted a workout clip of him moving and shifting angles at hyper speed on Wednesday in what appears to be preparation for a fight against Vasily Lomachenko on June 5th.

The way that Kambosos is training now, it’s crystal clear that he’ll be taking on the whiz kid Lomachenko in his next fight in June.

Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) is known for his fast footwork, constantly changing angles of attack and quick hands.

That style is one that Lomachenko has had since his amateur days in Ukraine, working to his benefit to capture two gold medals in the Olympics.

In looking at the workout clip of Kambosos (20-0, 10 KOs) that he posted yesterday on social media, it seems clear that he’s attempting to mimic the shifty movement of Lomachenko.

Sean Jones thinks that video has been speeded up to make Kambosos look faster than he is. Would Kambosos change the speed on a video clip to make it seem like he’s fleet of foot like Lomachenko?

If that’s the case, it will not help Kambosos when he gets inside the ring with the talented Lomachenko on June 5th.

I mean, unless Kambosos has the foot speed in the real sense, he’s going to end up looking like Lomachenko’s last opponent Richard Commey in getting battered by the #1 WBC, #2 WBO Loma.

IBF/WBA/WBC Franchise/WBO lightweight champion Kambosos Jr and Lomachenko are likely to be meeting next on June 5th at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

The former three-division world champion Lomachenko, 34, is viewed as the one that will get the fight against Kambosos. Boxing fans want Kambosos and his promoter to announce the battle with the #1 ranked WBC contender Loma already, as it’s been dragging on and on.

WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney remains has an outside chance of getting the fight with Kambosos. Devin’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed this week that DAZN is acting as the intermediary between him and Kambosos’ promoter Lou DiBella for negotiations.

Still, it doesn’t look promising for Haney, as Kambosos and his promoter appear to have decided that they want Lomachenko.

Kambosos needs more time to develop his speed to get ready for Lomachenko because he’s not going to be able to change his game dramatically overnight to be competitive.

This is the first defense for Kambosos, who captured “them beautiful belts” with a 12 round split decision over Teofimo Lopez on November  27th at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Teofimo looked nowhere near the same fighter he’d been in his previous fight, beating Lomachenko by a 12 round decision in October 2020. According to Teofimo’s promoter Bob Arum, he fought with an injury and wasn’t anywhere near 100%.

Without Kambosos doing something really dramatic with his footwork & hand speed, his fight with Lomachenko will be a ceremonial handing over of the belts on June 5th.

Sean Jones hates to say it, but Kambosos will be up the creek on June 5th when he gets in there with Loma. The thing is, it’s not going to help Kambosos trying to improve his foot & hand speed.

It’s not second-nature for the Australian like it is with Lomachenko, and he’s just going to end up getting embarrassed.

Before Kambosos pulled off a miracle win over Teofimo, he hadn’t done much with his career.

Up until that fight, Kambosos’ most notable wins were over the washed Mickey Bey and Lee Selby, both of which fought him tooth & nail. Kambosos edged both of those two old-timers, showing nothing in either fight that would suggest that he would be a threat to a talent like Teofimo.
