By Scott Gilfoid: In a huge hint that Tyson Fury will be facing Dillian Whyte next, the ‘Gypsy King’ warned him that he’s “getting annihilated” on Thursday ahead of their WBC-ordered purse bid this Friday, January 28th.
Boxing fans are sick of the suspense of all the drama with the potential step aside between Fury and Whyte and Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk. They just want to get these fights over with and let the cards fall where they may.
Friday’s purse bid should be fun to watch. Hearn will probably win it and stick the Fury vs. Whyte fight in the Middle East in April. That’s great for Fury and Whyte’s bottom line, but rotten for the boxing fans that are hoping to see it live and in person.
Tyson can’t wait to slug Dillian in the face
“I can’t wait to punch Whyte’s face in,” said Fury on Thursday to Sky. “I’ll give him the best hiding he’s ever had. Whyte, train hard! Because you are getting annihilated.
“Joshua and Eddie Hearn are the worst businessmen in history – today they lost $90m,” said Fury.
If Joshua isn’t good enough, which will likely be the case, he’ll be found out once again by IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Usyk, and sent into retirement with a golden parachute final payday.
This likely means Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) will be defending his WBC heavyweight title against the ‘Body Snatcher’ Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs) in April.
It’s believed that Anthony Joshua has rejected the step aside deal that was offered him to move out of the way of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk to let Fury take the fight.
Fury and Joshua could both lose
This could blow up in both Joshua and Fury’s faces with them losing their fights, but oh well, that’s how it goes. The fat-looking Fury has really aged a lot since his fight with Otto Wallin in 2019. It’s shocking how old, immobile and depleted Fury looked against Deontay Wilder in their trilogy match on October 9th last year.
What on EARTH has Fury been doing for him to get old so quickly? In the last two years, it’s like dog years instead of people years with how Fury has aged. It looks to Gilfoid like Fury has accelerated decrepitude.
Whatever Fury has been doing that has been aging him, he needs to stop already. While he’s at it, he should step away from the kitchen table and give his food a break.
If Whyte is the same form that he was for his rematch with 40-year-old Alexander Povetkin last March, he’s going to hand Fury a new backside and rip his WBC strap him on the night.
That version of Whyte would whip the daylights out of the old man Fury that we saw last October against the talented 6’7″ Deontay. Some would say that Fury was saved from being knocked out with a long count in the second knockdown in the fourth against Wilder.
AJ’s career likely to be finished off
Joshua’s chances of beating Usyk are VERY slim based on how he looked last September at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium in London, England.
AJ really believes that he can win this fight by being more aggressive and using his size on Usyk. It’s such a wacky idea, but you got to let Joshua discover his destiny on his own, I guess.
Joshua lacks the stamina, chin the boxing IQ to beat a talent like Usyk, and he’s going to be shown once again when they meet. It’ll be a good lesson to Joshua and a real eye-opener for his promoter Eddie Hearn that he should have been more assertive with him.
Joshua would be a good commentator. That would be a nice gig for him when his career is finished off by Usyk.
As for Hearn, he’s going to have a huge void to fill with Joshua gone. If he thinks Conor Benn will be the replacement for Joshua, he’s kidding himself because that guy is going to be royally thrashed once Hearn stops putting him in with old guys. Gilfoid is predicting it now.
Once Benn is thrown into the deep end against Vergil Ortiz Jr, the Jaron Ennis, or Keith Thurman, it’s all over.
