Ryan Garcia calls out Tank Davis, says he “almost lost” to Isaac Cruz

By Jim Calfa: Ryan Garcia was off the leash on Sunday night in calling out a depleted looking Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis after watching him labor to a 12 round unanimous decision against little known Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz (22-2-1, 15 KOs) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

‘Kingry’ Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18 Kos) made it a point to let Tank (26-0, 24 KOs) know what he thought of him and how he’s been protected by his promoters at Mayweather Promotions with the matching him against “C-level fighters” from the jump, and not veering from this strategy into his eighth-year oof his career.

Ryan says he wants a fight against Tank Davis, and his promoter Oscar De La Hoya seems to be on board with that idea. I mean, the way that Tank looked against Pitbull Cruz and Mario Barrios, Ryan has a real shot at dethroning him.

You have to give Ryan a better-than-average chance of stopping Tank with the way he’s performed lately.

Tank was lucky to win a decision against the young 23-year-old dynamo ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, who was all over him from the first to the last round, hammering him with body shots and vicious head-snapping uppercuts.

Ryan Garcia trashes Tank Davis

We all know Luke Campbell is better than all of Tank’s opposition. Tank can’t beat me he knows that and Mayweather knows that. I’m too fast and I got too much accuracy, cmon Mayweather you can’t protect him forever,” Ryan Garcia said.

“He said it’s easy work. Well, then it should be easy to run it. You can’t and will not do s*** we all seen that today. You almost lost and they set that up so you look good,’ said Ryan Garcia.

Gervonta Davis: I will beat the both of y’all asses”

You can argue that Tank squeaked by with a win, but Pitbull Cruz won the event if that makes sense. His performance stood out tonight.

Tank looked hurt in the 10th round and was forced to get on his bike in the 11th and 12th to win by these scores: 115-113, 115-113, and 116-112.

Many boxing fans on social media disagree with those scores, believing that Pitbull Cruz did enough to deserve the win tonight. Tank may have hurt his hand in the later rounds, but that’s not why Cruz looked so good tonight.

Even in the early rounds before Tank suffered his hand injury, he was getting worked over by Pitbull Cruz, being made to look very average. Tank may have met his match against Cruz, and was fortunate to get the decision because he could have lost the fight.
