By Chris Williams: Floyd Mayweather Jr. praised unbeaten welterweight contender Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis is a fighter that he greatly admires.

The 24-year-old Boots Ennis (28-0, 26 KOs) is rapidly moving up the ranks at 147 and he already is calling out champions Errol Spence Jr., Terence Crawford, and Yordenis Ugas.

The 34-year-old Crawford is going to have to deal with #5 ranked WBO contender Ennis soon because he’ll soon be his mandatory.

Floyd sounded off on Thursday how the media and boxing fans do a lot of talking about Canelo Alvarez but fail to mention Boots Ennis, who he feels deserves to be given attention.

Many of the casual fans still are unaware of the 24-year-old Boots Ennis because he hasn’t been given main event profile opportunities yet, but he will soon.

I’ll come on record and say that kid Jaron Ennis, ‘Boots’, don’t sleep on him. Don’t sleep on him, helluva fighter,” said Mayweather.

Ennis massacred Thomas Dulorme in a first round knockout on October 30th in a fight that shocked fans because this is a guy that Crawford struggled with in 2015 and Yordenis Ugas in 2017.

Jaron Ennis beats Crawford says Fulton

“Hell yeah,” said WBC super bantamweight champion Stephen Fulton to Fighthype when asked if Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis beats Terence Crawford.

“I feel like I’ve been around and seen him [Ennis] train and his reflexes, punch output, stamina. You don’t even see the guy sit down in the corner. He’s young and hungry.

“They wouldn’t give him the opportunity and I understand why,” Fulton said about Ennis not being given a shot at a fight by Crawford.

“I understand because if that was me, would I give him the opportunity? I would have because that’s who I am, but I don’t know,” said Fulton in expressing doubt that Terence would give Boots Ennis a title shot.

“His [Ennis] defense is going to be on point. Sometimes his defense that he’s so in shape, he’ll get there faster than his opponent and may get caught with something dumb.

“He’ll definitely see it and try and get out of the way, but he’s in so great shape that he’ll get there faster than his opponent that is throwing that punch,” Fulton said of Boots Ennis.

“He’s the youngest, the hungriest, the more fit. When we talk about resume-wise, you got to give it to the other guys. You can’t overlook them. They’re world champs, but he’s [Ennis] definitely ready to prove that he’s one of the best in the world.

“Yeah, we sparred recently,” said Fulton about him and Boots Ennis. “It was tech sparring.

“It’s always real good work. We’re not trying to knock each other’s heads off, we’re always just working on things. Me and him are very competitive,” Fulton said of his sparring with Jaron Ennis.
