By Dan Ambrose: Terence Crawford called out Errol Spence Jr. following the successful title defense of his WBO welterweight belt on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Crawford, 34, had too much left in the late rounds, and he took advantage of a tired-out Porter.

Crawford: Porter’s dad did the right thing

“Shawn Porter, I can’t say anything bad about him,” said Crawford after the fight. “He been in there with everybody, and he did what he could. I was just the better man today.

“Round one,” said Crawford when asked WHEN he figured out Porter. “I figured I had the reach, and he had to take chances to get in.

“I was a little stronger than him, and he was just trying to do what he normally do. Maul and push me back. I used my angles and I pushed him back at times as well.

“No, no, no,” Shawn Porter is a good fighter. He was doing some slick things in there. Yeah, for sure,” said Crawford when asked if he knew the fight was going to be over soon after he knocked Porter down for the first time in the 10th.

“I caught him with a good uppercut, and then when I caught him with another left hook, I see in his face that he was really hurt. He did the right thing by stopping it because I was coming with vengeance,” Crawford said.

Kenny was aware of what kind of training camp Porter had, and if he really did get battered by Gervonta Davis during camp, it makes sense for his dad Kenny to have stopped the fight.

Crawford reacts to Spence being at his fight

“He was at my fight?” said Crawford when told that Errol Spence Jr. was at his fight. “That point said he was never going to be at my fights and now he’s at my fights.

“You saw what I did compared to what I said,” said Crawford in comparing his 10th round knockout of Porter to Spence’s 12 round split decision victory over Shawn in September 2019.

“My thing is, who in the welterweight division is #1 now? You already know who I want. I’ve been calling him out all day. Maybe I’ll go up to 154. Maybe Spence will get his tail out of his butt and he’ll fight me.

“Styles make fights,” said Crawford when asked what does it mean that he was able to knockout Porter while Spence couldn’t. “I look at all of us. We’re all great, we’re all talented and we all got different styles,” said Crawford.

The magic question is why didn’t Errol Spence Jr. call out Crawford after the match. Was Spence only at the fight on Saturday with the hope that Porter would win? It sure does seem like that.

Porter that been asking Spence for a rematch ever since losing to him in September 2019.

Terence reveals what he told Porter

“He won and I won [against Porter]. I just look at it like, no matter how the end of the fight go, as long as you get the victory that’s all that matters.

“I love him. Shawn Porter is a real good friend of mine,” said Crawford when asked what he said to Porter after the fight.”I told him that I really didn’t want to fight him.

“We always said that we were going to fight each other when the time was right and I guess the time was right for this fight to happen.

“I was looking to fight other champions in the division, and since I couldn’t get that, I had to go to the next best thing,” said Crawford about his fight with Porter.

“It’s good that Crawford talked to Porter after the fight because hopefully there’s no bad blood on his part. With the way that Porter took off immediately after his post-fight interview, it makes you wonder.
