Demetrius Andrade Wants To Fight Golovkin Next

By Daniele D’Alessio: After his impressive stoppage victory against Jason Quigley (19-2, 14 KOs), Demetrius Andrade (31-0, 19 KOs) is happy to fight the winner of Gennadiy Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs) and Ryota Murata (16-2, 13 KOs).

“May the best man win; Murata is tall, lanky, knows how to fight, and definitely gonna be a competition. Triple G knows how to get in there and put pressure, but he’s getting older, and I’ll fight either one of them guys”.

Most boxing fans believe Golovkin vs. Murata will be competitive but are still picking Triple G to win convincingly. If the Kazakh does come through, will we finally get to see him fight Andrade?

Boo Boo has been calling out some of the biggest names in boxing for a while, but the likes of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (57-1-2, 39 KOs) and Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) do not seem interested.

Canelo famously told Andrade to “get the fuck out of here” after the American confronted the Mexican superstar in his post-fight press conference after stopping Billy Joe Saunders (30-1, 14 KOs).

Aside from issues with inactivity and being promoted terribly in the past, Andrade’s biggest stumbling block is that he is a high-risk, low-reward fight for the top guys.

Despite producing a spectacular performance last night against Quigley, he doesn’t have the most fan-friendly style, which hinders him from being very popular in the boxing public.

So the financial rewards of facing Boo Boo do not match up with the risks associated with fighting him. As a fast, slick, and powerful southpaw, Andrade is an awkward opponent and one that has the potential to defeat the top guys.

Golovkin is almost 40 years old, and the timing could not be any better for Andrade to fight him. Triple G is not the monster of a few years ago, and this could finally present an opportunity for Boo Boo to get a world-class name on his resume.

Still, Golovkin would be a tough fight and, even at his age, would be the best opponent Andrade has ever faced by a mile. Even if Triple G is slowing down, he has a granite chin and heavy hands to cause serious damage.

As boxing fans, we can only hope that Golovkin gets past Murata and then finishes his career on a high by facing Andrade next. However, if the Kazakh loses, it shows the best of Triple G is well and truly gone.

Apart from Golovkin, fights against Charlo, Saunders, or Chris Eubank Jr (31-2, 23 KOs) would be exciting.

Can Eddie Hearn deliver a top opponent for Andrade? Or will Boo Boo never get that breakthrough fight to show he is one of the best fighters in the world?
