By Ken Hissner: On August 20-22nd in Atlantic City, New Jersey, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, one of boxing’s top cut men Joey “Eye” Intrieri, will be inducted into another Hall of Fame with this one, the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame!

One of the most likable people in the boxing business Joey Eye has done it all. He had this to say about being honored:

It really is an honor to be inducted into the ACBHOF. It makes me feel good to know that my peers in boxing voted me in. It’s a very humbling experience to be recognized for all my hard work, knowledge, and experience. Especially for “just another bum from the neighborhood.”

Lol. I have worked cuts for so many guys over the years it’s hard to remember them all. I have worked with the worst to the best. I have never been biased to a fighter due to their record, race, or creed. Every fighter bleeds red. I love what I do! I also love to work the fights in Atlantic City! It’s like my home away from home. Some notable names I have worked with are Tim Witherspoon, Sr. and Jr., Chazz Witherspoon, Bruce Seldon, Jacqui Frazier, Ivan Robinson, Sergei Kovalev, Chad Dawson, Chuckie Mussachio, Omar Sheika, Prince Badi, Thomas Lamanna, Derrick Webster, Edner Cherry, Sonny Conto, Darren Maciunski, Gabe Rosado, etc.

Joe commented, “at an event that happened back in 2000 at a Boxing Celebrity match, I was matched with PA Boxing Director Greg Sirb, where I came out the winner. In 2013 or 2014, at an MMA weigh-in, Sirb started arguing with me and tried to wrestle me to the ground; that didn’t go so well for him”.

Joey was having a successful promotional career at Harrah’s outside of Philadelphia in Chester, PA, when he got railroaded by Sirb having his promotional license taken.

Joey Eye commented, “I got my promoter’s license in 2001 doing a few co-promotions before doing my own promotions in 2004, first at the World Gym, in NE Philly, The Armory, etc. Then in 2010, I was approached by Harrah’s Casino in Chester, PA, in January of 2011 doing my first event doing shows every 6-8 weeks until 2015. It all came to an end when my ex-partner told the casino I was a gangster, which is a lot of bull! Along with Sirb pulling my license being involved with bare-knuckle boxing, the Casino split from me like I was Al Capone.”

Among other honors and inductions include 15-time cut man of the year in Philadelphia 2001-2015, NJHOF 2018, PABHOF 2015, AC All stars of boxing inductee 2012, and Filitalia Italian Immigration Museum Enshrinement 2018.

Besides boxing and promoting, Joey Eye has appeared in films, with the latest being “Without You.” He played a mobster called Bobby Pajamas. Others were Rocky 2, Rocky 5, Rocky Balboa (6), Creed, Analyze That, Sleeping with the Fishes, Deuces Wild, Red Corvette, Animal Factory, Mark’s Place, Chase Street, Nails, The Sopranos, The Avenue, Snipes, along with many others. In all about 100 films, videos, commercials, and plays.
