Teofimo Sr predicting 2 million buys for Kambosos fight on June 19th

By Sean Jones:  Trainer Teofimo Lopez Sr. is convinced that his son IBF/WBA/WBC Franchise/WBO lightweight champion Teofimo’s defense against George Kambosos Jr will bring in two million pay-per-view buys on Triller PPV on June 19th.

If Teofimo can bring in 2 million PPV buys for a fight against a guy that most boxing fans in the U.S have never seen or heard of before, just imagine what he’ll do against someone like Ryan Garcia or Gervonta Davis.

Teofimo believes that with all the musical acts like 51-year-old Jennifer Lopez and many other music artists performing on the night. It’ll bring in a ton of pay-per-view buys and sell tickets.

Sean Jones hates to drizzle on Teofimo Sr’s vision thing, but boxing fans don’t purchase fights to see music artists. They purchase fights to see boxing, not music.

Teofimo Sr’s hair brain theory sounds wacky and filled with false hope. It would be better for Teofimo Sr. to shoot for a more realistic number like 200K buys, which would be good for a low-level fight like this one.

Teofimo Sr explains why Kambosos fight will sell

“The reason why is because we’re bringing a big platform,” said Teofimo Sr when asked why he believes the Lopez vs. Kambosos fight will do 2 million pay-per-view buys.

This is different. We have Jennifer Lopez...we’re still digging into getting all these performers. We’re going to have a lot of celebrities that night. It’s going to be an explosive night,” said Teofimo Sr.

Fans in the U.S aren’t demanding that Teofimo fight the little-known Australian Kambosos Jr, and for a good reason. Kambosos looked gawdawful against Mickey Bey and Lee Selby, barely beating both of them.

At the very least, Teofimo Sr is predicting that the fight will bring in one million+ PPV buys, which would be a huge number that would make superstars like Canelo Alvarez proud.

Teofimo will be defending against his unbeaten IBF mandatory Kambosos Jr (19-0, 10 KOs) at the LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida.

It sounds like an utterly hopeless pipe dream on Teofimo Sr’s part to be hoping for 1-2 million PPV buys on Triller for the Kambosos Jr.

Lopez sees Teofimo vs. Kambosos as a money-maker

“The tickets just came out. Let’s see what happens,” said Teofimo Sr on the tickets for the Lopez vs. Kamboso Sr fight.

“But I see this fight making a lot of money. A lot of people underestimate my son.

He did four million+ ESPN views, so we’re in the millions already. Take half of those guys out due to the money. We’re still going to make more than a million [pay-per-view buys].

“You have to understand a lot of these guys are not casuals. A lot of people that watch my son are real fans.

“You’ve got the YouTuber fan base, and then you have the real fans that watch boxing.

“There’s got to be more than 2 million people, and it’s only 59.95, bro. It’s not like it’s going to kill you to watch the fight.

“You got five, six, seven people. It’ll cost you around five dollars apiece just to get the fight on,” said Teofimo Sr.

Those numbers that Teofimo Sr has dreamed up sound crazy and not likely. Top Rank chose not to put the fight between Teofimo and Kambosos Jr on PPV for a good reason.

They didn’t think it would sell, and Triller will find out the hard way that they shouldn’t have put the Teofimo vs. Kambosos fight on PPV.
