Boxing Results: Jay Harris Knocked Out by Ricardo “El Nino” Sandoval in UK!

By Ken Hissner: At the Bolton Whites Hotel, Bolton, Lancashire, UK, MTK Global – Lee Eaton over ESPN+ in the Main Event paired flyweights with identical records of 18-1 with Jay Harris of Wales knocked out by Ricardo Sandoval, of California, US, in the eighth round in an IBF title eliminator.

In the co-feature for the vacant WBO International bantamweight title, former IBF champ Paul “The Baby Faced Assassin” Butler won by split decision over Willibaldo Perez.

In the Main Event, Flyweight Jay Harris, 18-2 (9), #111 ¼, of Swansea, Wales, UK, was knocked out by Ricardo “El Nino” Sandoval, 18-1 (13), #111 ¾, of Rialto, CA, at 2:12 of the eighth round of a scheduled 12 rounds.

In the eighth round, body punches from Sandoval knocked Harris down twice and out. The referee was Michael Alexander.

In the co-feature for the vacant WBO International bantam title, former IBF champ Paul “The Baby Face Assassin” Butler, 33-2 (15), #117 ¾, of Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, UK, won by split decision over Willibaldo Perez, 12-5-1 (6), #117 ¼, of Copala, Guerrero, MEX, over 10 rounds.

In the first round, Butler scored a knockdown over Perez.

Scores were 96-94, 97-92, and 94-95. The referee was Steve Gray.

Light Heavyweight Jose “The Hammer” Burton, 26-2 (12), #174 ½, of Carrington, Lancashire, UK, knocked out Liam Conroy, 18-7-1 (9), #174 ¾, of Barrow in Furness, Cumbria, UK, at 1:44 of the sixth round of a scheduled 10 rounds.

Burton knocked Conroy down with a shot to the ear in the sixth round as referee Howard Foster administered the full count.

Lightweight southpaw Gary Cully, 13-0 (7), #136 ¼, of Naas, Ireland, knocked out Viorel “The Bombardierul“ Simion, 22-6 (9), #135 ½, of Lehliu Gara, Romania, after 3 rounds of a scheduled 10 rounds.

The referee was Michael Alexander.
