Logan Paul to use his size, power & youth to beat Floyd Mayweather

By Matt Lieberman: YouTuber Logan Paul says he will utilize size, youth, and power to defeat the aging 44-year-old Floyd Mayweather Jr on June 6th in their exhibition fight at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Mayweather vs. Paul will be televised on Showtime pay-per-view.

Mayweather doesn’t look like the fighter he was four years ago when he rolled past Conor McGregor in 2017 in a competitive fight until the last two rounds.

Floyd has aged considerably, and he’s looking almost as old as 54-year-old Mike Tyson now despite being a decade younger.

Moreover, as Logan says, “weight classes are there for a reason,” and Mayweather is going to be out of his comfort zone in taking on a guy that is four divisions heavier than him.

For those who don’t believe the 26-year-old Logan has a chance, they need to understand that he’ll be four divisions heavier than Mayweather after he weighs in, and he’s going to use that size to his advantage.

Logan freely admits that he didn’t work his way to a fight against the popular former five-division world champion Mayweather like other fighters have.

But at the same time, Paul says he’s worked his backside off training and getting the better of professional boxers in sparring to prepare for this. Logan feels like he’s improved enough to beat the smaller, older, weaker Mayweather on June 6th, and he plans on proving it.

Logan explains why he can win

“Truthfully, it’s not fair,” said Logan Paul to ESPN’s First Take when asked if it’s fair that he’s being given a fight against Mayweather rather than a boxer. “There are weight classes for a reason.

“I definitely didn’t climb the ranks to earn the spot to fight one of the best boxers in our generation in a typical sense, but in other ways, we worked our a*** off. It’s an opportunity that came to fruition, and it’s not something you say no to.

My height, weight, reach, and age. I’m going to weigh in three weight classes heavier, and I’m probably going to come into the fight weighing four weight classes heavier. That’s dangerous.

Imagine, hypothetically, that I know what I’m doing. Imagine I’m a very good boxer. Imagine I’m beating experienced pros in sparring time and time again.

“Floyd is going to come in and realize he’s in with a guy that is longer than him, stronger than him, powerful and has nothing to lose. I’m going in there, and what happens if I win? It’s the greatest upset victory in combat sports. What happens if I lose? Nothing. Life goes on.

“Yeah, as long as it can bring in an audience,” said Logan when asked if he plans on fighting active boxers in the future. “Jake and I want to be the biggest prize-fighters on the planet.

“We want to draw a large audience and entertain a lot of people. This isn’t a one-year plan. This is a three, four, five, six, seven-year plan. Unfortunately for our health, we’ve fallen in love with the sport.

“Something about the primal nature of the sport,” said Logan when asked what makes him see Boxing as so appealing to him. “Two people getting inside the ring and duking it out to see who the better one is; it’s so exciting to me.

“I did that before I did Youtube and blew up on the Internet. It’s the most exciting thing on the planet. We’re modern-day gladiators; it’s the coolest thing in the world to me,” said Logan.

“I imagine it gets tiresome having to apologize every time you come on a show for other fighters that have been waiting in line,” said Max Kellerman to Logan Paul.

“But there are guys like Jermall Charlo and others, who are like, ‘it’s great what they’re doing. I’d like to fight on their undercard; they’re bringing a new audience to the sport.’ You told me,” said Kellerman.

What Logan says makes a lot of sense. When you’ve got as many positives going or you as Logan does, it balances out what Mayweather brings to the table.

On the undercard, light heavyweight Jean Pascal will face Badou Jack in a rematch, and former junior middleweight champion Jarrett Hurd will fight Luis Arias.
