By Jeff Aronow: Eddie Hearn says that Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight is done for August 14th, and there are just a few odds & ends that need to be finished before it’s announced.

Hearn says he doesn’t want to continue giving timelines for the official announcement for the Joshua – Fury heavyweight undisputed championship, but he is saying it’ll be done this week. But what he is saying is the fight is “done” for August 14th in Saudi Arabia.

A stadium is being built by the Saudis in Jeddah, making for cooler temperatures for the fans who attend the Joshua vs. Fury fight.

Fury was in high spirits on Sunday after a telephone conversation with Prince Khalid, who confirmed that the fight is going down on August 14th in Saudi.

Immediately after the conversation, Fury broke the news to his boxing fans on Twitter, celebrating.

Hearn says Joshua vs. Fury is Done!

“We’ve been chasing a few bits that have taken a little bit longer than normal,” said Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn to Boxing Social on the Joshua vs. Fury fight announcement.

“We’ve had conversations tonight with both fighters, and again, I don’t want to bore you. This fight is done, and this fight is happening on August 14th in Saudi Arabia.

“Everything is moving forward, and yeah, again, next week,” Hearn continued. “Where we are with the announcement is, there’s paperwork, particularly banking paperwork that is taking time.

All the fighters are happy, all the fighters have been training for the fight. The stadium is even started to be built. I can’t tell you anything more.

“If I give you a date, you’re only going to give me an interview and say, ‘You said that.’ So I’m going to say nothing other than either you can believe it’s done or don’t,” said Hearn.

It sounds like the fight is about to be announced formally this week, and that’ll be excellent news for the fans.

Many of them have lost faith in the Joshua – Fury fight really happening after being strung along week after week, month after month since late last year.

Fury vowing to “Smash” Joshua on August 14th
