John Fury to Jake Paul: Tommy will have you, mate

By Charles Brun: John Fury and promoter Frank Warren are both highly interested in putting together a fight between Tommy Fury and YouTuber Jake Paul. This comes a day after Jake (2-0, 2 KOs) commented on social media about Tyson Fury mentioning him wanting to take on Tommy Fury.

Hopefully, John Fury knows what he’s doing in setting the wheels in motion to match his son Tommy Fury against Jake Paul, because this is a move that could blow up in his face.

Tommy is better off sticking to reality TV rather than mixing it up with Jake, who has world-class punching power and surprisingly good hand speed. John Fury needs to hold Tommy back from taking this fight because it won’t end well for him if he takes on the heavy-handed Jake.

Jake Paul invites Tommy to challenge him

Some fighters aren’t made for the sport, and you can argue that Tommy is one of them. He has virtually no punching power, and he has no hand speed.

If John throws Tommy in the ring with YouTuber Jake Paul, he’s going to end up Nate Robinson and Ali Eson Gib getting knocked out early.

Jake was disgusted with Tyson Fury doing the talking for Tommy Fury and suggested that speak for himself

“If Tyson Fury took a s***, it would be his little brother [Tommy Fury],” said Jake Paul on social media.

“He’s literally like this little kid. My point is here. You’re Tyson Fury’s little brother. If you want to fight me, don’t let your big brother do s*** for you. Log on to Instagram or Twitter and call me out for yourself, bro,” said Jake.

This is too much of a step up for Tommy Fury to take on a fighter with the power, and talent of Jake Paul. If Tommy takes this fight, his career might not ever recover.

Looking at Some of Tommy’s fights, he’s heading for disaster anyway, even if he doesn’t fight Jake. Tommy doesn’t possess the speed, power, or talent to be a major player at 175.

Maybe if Tommy trimmed down to 160, he might have a career as a domestic-level fighter, but that’s all I can see. The way Tommy looks now, he won’t do well against Jake, let alone any of the top British domestic-level fighters.

John Fury wants Jake Paul for Tommy

“This man can do it as well,” said John Fury to iFL TV about his son Tommy Fury being able to beat cruiserweight Jake Paul.

“Forget about these opposition at this stage in the game. He’s doing what he’s meant to do, and he’ll blow him away. He’s not taking him to a points victory.

“He’s getting him out of there, and all these people that think he can’t do this and can’t do that, we’ll love to take you next. Jake Paul, we’ll have you mate.

“All them boys, we will have. Don’t you worry about them. If you think this lad [Tommy Fury] can’t do it, get in front of him.

“You won’t want to get in there too long, believe me. He’ll get you out of there,” said an amped-up John Fury.

“I don’t care. I’m in this game for experience,” said Tommy Fury about fighting Jake Paul.

Tommy Fury’s five-fight opposition:

  • Scott Williams (0-9)
  • Genadij Krajevskij (0-11)
  • Przemyslaw Binienda (2-26)
  • Callum Ide (0-26)
  • Jevgenijs Andrejevs (10-102-3)

As you can see, Tommy Fury’s opposition as a professional has terrible, and that’s why Charles Brun is saying, Jake Paul, would be too much of a step up for him. Tommy isn’t ready for a talent like Jake, and it doesn’t appear that he ever will be.

Warren interested in Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury

“Obviously, he’s got a very high media profile through the reality TV show that he did,” said Frank Warren to iFL TV about Tommy Fury.

“He’s a real novice, he hasn’t had hardly any amateur experience, and the amateur experience was a couple of years ago. He’s working his way through.

I think in a few more fights, we’ll gradually keep stepping him up so he can get some experience. hopefully, by this time next year, he might be challenging for some sort of title.

“If he wants to make that fight, I’ll do it in a heartbeat,” said Warren about a fight between Tommy Fury and Jake Paul. “No problem with that. If Jake feels he’s a step up for Tommy, let’s do it.

“There are levels. When I say that Tommy is learning his trade and is bit of a novice at this stage, he [Jake Paul] doesn’t even reach the experience that Tommy has got.

“If he wants that fight, let’s do it. It’ll be very interesting and I’m sure everybody would love to see it. Jake, if you’ve got the balls for it, let’s go and do it, mate.

“I wouldn’t say I’d headline it, but I’d put it on a card. It doesn’t matter what part of a card it’s on. As long as it’s on. I’m sure it’ll get tremendous interest.

“Jake has got quite a following, and Tommy has got a massive. What has he got? Two and a half million people on Instagram? Yeah, let’s get it on.

“I’d love to do that, I’d love to see the two. I’d love to see Tommy get in there and bash him up,” said Warren.

The Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury fight will bring in a lot of interest, but it might the end game for Tommy. If gets planted face-first on the canvas by Jake Paul in the first or second round, what then? Where does Tommy Fury go from there? His confidence will be shattered, and it’s impossible to imagine him continuing on.
