Tyson Fury destroys heavy bag while working out

By Jeff Aronow: Tyson Fury had a close call on Tuesday after destroying a heavy bag during one of his workouts. WBC heavyweight champion Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) landed a big shot, causing the bag to fall from the ceiling along with the electrical mounting.

Fury needs to be careful when working out in the future, as he could have been seriously hurt if the debris had hit him in the head.

Fury barely escaped injury with this episode, and he’s lucky that he wasn’t hit with the falling debris. Interestingly, when Fury attempted to push the electrical box back into the ceiling, it broke apart and hit him on the arm. At that point, an annoyed looking Fury walked away to the other part of the gym and continued to work out.

Fury, 32, is getting ready for his next fight in the first half of 2021. He’ll be back in the ring in January or February against an opponent still to be determined.

It won’t be former WBC champion Deontay ‘Bronze Bomber’ Wilder, though, as the American KO artist said, he plans to fight in 2021 against one of the top heavyweights.

He has a five-person list that he’s looking over for his next fight, including Dillian Whyte, Oleksandr Usyk, and Andy Ruiz Jr.

Fury was previously planning to fight on December 5th against Agit Kabayel, but the money wasn’t there to make the fight happen. It needed fans to attend it, and that’s not possible right now.

Also, Kabayel wasn’t a big enough name or Fury to peddle the fight to the UK boxing fans, as they likely would have ignored the mismatch.

This is what Wilder had to say about Fury in an interview this week:

“He’s a known cheater, and you can go back to the rap sheet and history of him cheating even with the Klitschko fight.

“I haven’t yet heard valid proof of how gloves flap all the way back, why your hands were in the bottom of the glove, why did my ear have scratches deep inside my ear because of your nails. We have so much proof, but it just shows you got to cheat me to beat me.”

As you can see, there’s anger on Wilder’s part over their fight last February. Wilder is angry about his suspicions about Fury cheating, and he’s even madder that he chose not to give him his trilogy fight.

If Wilder and Fury keep winning, they’ll likely meet up in the future at some point. However, Fury said this month that he’d never give Wilder another shot due to some of the comments he’s made about him, but he’ll likely change his mind if the money is right.
