By Chris Williams: Adrien Broner was impressed with what he saw from Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis with his stunning sixth-round knockout of Leo Santa Cruz last Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

‘The Problem’ Broner says he predicted that Gervonta (24-0, 23 KOs) would KO WBA super featherweight champion Santa Cruz (37-2-1, 19 KOs) after he started breaking him down. Adrien admits that he made some money betting on the fight, so he’s happy about it.

Tank won over many new boxing fans with the scorching left uppercut that he knocked Santa Cruz out with in the sixth round. The fight took place in front of a large live crowd of 9,024 fans at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

To win the fight in that fashion in front of a huge crowd was special for Tank.

Adrien predicted Gervonta would stop Leo in six

“He fought the best Leo for the first five or six rounds,” said Adrien Broner to ESNEWS about Gervonta’s performance. “Leo started feeling that power and breaking him down. I called it, saying it won’t go past six,” said Broner.

You’ve got to respect Santa Cruz for the way he fought Davis in a toe-to-toe manner for the entire fight, even though he was outmanned in the fight. Santa Cruz never gave an inch in staying in the pocket and going out on his shield.

When you look at the other fighters that Tank has fought in the last two years, none of them stood and fought him the way Santa Cruz did. He dared to be great, but unfortunately, it cost him the fight.

Broner talks about Tank’s KO of Santa Cruz

“It was on point. It was a nasty shot,” Broner said about the nasty knockout punch from Gervonta in the sixth.

“Tank is going to kill those guys that are too small for him. It’ll be a hell of a fight,” Broner said when asked about his thoughts on Tank Davis facing Ryan Garcia.

The other guys that Broner is talking about are the top lightweight in Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, and Teofimo Lopez. Davis has Ryan Garcia in his target sights for his next fight. If he beats Ryan, Davis will go after either Haney or Teofimo.

There will be huge money in it for Tank against either of those fighters because they’ve already got a big fan base.

It’s too bad that Tank fought Santa Cruz before taking on Teofimo or Haney because he might scare those fighters away with the way he knocked out Leo. It’s going to make them think twice before they agree to fight Tank.

Yeah, Haney and Teofimo will talk to the media about wanting to fight Davis, but when it comes time for them to put their money where their mouth is, it’s unlikely that they’ll take the fight with him.
