By Chris Williams: Devin Haney challenged Ryan Garcia on social media to stop DUCKING him and accept the right already. The former WBC lightweight champion Haney (24-0, 15 KOs) maintains that ‘Kingry’ Ryan has been running scared of him, and he says there should be an asterisk next to his name after he retires one day.
Haney, 21, is frustrated at the Golden Boy fighter Garcia’s decision not to fight him and wants him to agree already so he can expose him. Devin wants to add Ryan’s name on his resume to the long list of fighters that he’s defeated.
While some boxing fans think Haney is BEGGING for a fight with Garcia, the truth of the matter is he’s looking to fight the best possible opponents he can. Vasily Lomachenko has already taken himself out of the loop as a future opponent for Haney in agreeing to the WBC’s Franchise tag that they gave him. Lomachenko could have turned it down, and fought Haney but he didn’t.

“Don’t be fooled I get paid millions and I can talk s*** because I can back it up!!! I’m the youngest promoter in boxing because I want my legacy to represent that I was willing and able to fight the best,” said Haney.

So there it is. Haney letting Ryan Garcia know that he needs to stop running scared, and take the fight with him. Ryan’s promoters at Golden Boy Promotions want to match him with the aging lions 34-year-old Jorge Linares and Luke Campbell, but those fights aren’t going to prove anything.
Even Ryan’s father/trainer Henry Garcia is predicting that he won’t get the credit that he wants from boxing fans if he beats Linares.

Ryan Garcia fires back at Haney

Garcia should have taken the fight with Haney ages ago so that the fans could see what the fuss is all about, but he didn’t.
Golden Boy Promotions are trying to slowly build Ryan Garcia, and they’re doing it by matching him selectively against fighters that aren’t a threat to beat him. Haney would be a BIG to Garcia, and there’s a very real possibility that his ‘O’ would go in that fight.
Devin has the edge in boxing skills and the overall talent. Ryan is more of a left-hook specialist, who fights like some of the fighters from the past like Jeff ‘Left Hook’ Lacy and Donovan ‘Razor’ Rudduck.
