By Charles Brun: Regis Progais wants to fight Adrien ‘The Problem’ Broner as soon as he gets done beating Josh Taylor in the upcoming final of World Boxing Super Series tournament later this year. Broner (33-4-1, 24 KOs) said this week that he’ll beat Prograis 24-0, 20 KOs), as well as WBA/WBO light welterweight champ Jose Ramirez to takeover the 140 pound division.  Adrien says he’s moving down in weight from 147, because he wants to clean out the 140 pound division.

After Broner called out Prograis, he changed directions, and said he’ll be retiring from boxing. Prograis says Broner needs to “make up his mind,” because he’s coming for him as soon as he beats Taylor in the WBSS final.

Prograis: Broner is just a clown

“I see Broner been talking s–t again,” said Prograis to Fighthype. “first off, Adrien, you’re a f—-g clown. Nobody takes you serious in the boxing world. You ain’t won a fight since Adrian Granados, and you barely won. I’m going to take care of my business [against Josh Taylor], and do what I got to do. Then I’m want to see you. Don’t talk about you want to retire,” said Prograis.

WBA light welterweight champion Prograis, 30, isn’t in the position right now to fight Broner, given that he still must face the unbeaten IBF belt holder Taylor (15-0, 12 KOs) in the final of the WBSS tournament. There are some boxing fans that believe that the 2012 Olympian Taylor will beat Prograis. Taylor is coming off of an impressive 12 unanimous decision win over Ivan Baranchyk (19-1, 12 KOs) last May in Glasgow, Scotland. With the huge pro-Taylor crowd behind him, Josh knocked the Russian Baranchyk down twice in round six, and went on to win a decision. The scores were 115-111, 117-109 and 115-111.

Broner needs to make up his mind says Prograis

“🅰️🅱️ make up ya mind. You’re going to f–k up and call me out and retire an hour later? I been at yo top for 3 years,” said Prograis on social media. “Don’t let the liquor get you knocked out I’m the wrong one to play wit. Oh and if you want come back to 140 u need to ask my permission. I run this s–t,” said Prograis.

Broner gave a good account of himself in losing to Manny Pacquiao by a 12 round unanimous decision last January. Although Broner lost the fight, he was almost as effective against Pacquiao as Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman in his recent fight against the Filipino star. The only thing that was missing from Broner’s game was the punch output, but that’s a problem for him since he first started his career in 2008. Broner has never had a high work rate, and that’s caused him to lose to Marcos Maidana, Shawn Porter, Mikey Garcia and Pacquiao. Those were all winnable fights for Broner if he could have doubled his work rate.

This is what Broner had to say earlier this week in calling out Prograis:

“Everybody keeps talking about Regis Prograis. He can get it too. I’ll beat the s–t out of Buddy. They claim to be something they’re not. Him and Jose Ramirez, I’ll f–k him up too. I’m going to take over the whole 140 pound division.”
