By Chris Williams: Paulie Malignaggi and Conor McGregor got in a brief heated argument at Tuesday’s grand arrival for McGregor at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas for his fight this Saturday night against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Malignaggi approached McGregor and his manager while they were surrounded by a large group of reporters.
Malignaggi briefly had words with McGregor, telling him that he thought it was low the way his camp leaked photos of their sparring session. Malignaggi spoke to McGregor’s manager, who told him he broke his contract. Before Malignaggi could finish talking to his manager, a burly security guard grabbed him and pulled him away from McGregor.
Malignaggi then let the security guard know that he’s one of the fighters. Malignaggi didn’t bother trying to get near McGregor after that. If he had, the security likely would have grabbed him again.
“Get over it,” said McGregor to Malignaggi at today’s Grand arrival at the T-Mobile Arena.
“You have no balls, remember that,” said Malignaggi to McGregor.
“You know that was a low blow,” said Malignaggi in talking about McGregor’s camp leaking 2 pictures of the sparring between him and McGregor. “He was saying I’m out of my contract,” said Malignaggi about McGregor’s manager telling him that he had broken his contract due to him talking to the media about the sparring. “I didn’t talk out of my contract, but words came after he put up pictures. When you post pictures, you send the media to me. You force me to have to defend myself. I was trying to get his manager’s attention. I wasn’t trying to get in Conor’s way, because this is a media scrum, and I’m not involved in the fight. I was trying to get his manager’s attention. You know what you do was low.” said Malignaggi in talking about McGregor’s camp leaking the sparring photos. He was trying to say I talked my way out of the contract. He posted pictures all over social media. The media comes rushing to me, and I have to defend myself. It started with the picture with his hands behind his back. How are you going to have an NDA, and then post pictures where the media is going to come to me? You can’t pretend I talked my way out of my contract. I was trying to talk to his manager and take him aside from the scrum, and talk man to man. They’re a bunch of sissies out there. That’s why I reminded him to bring his balls, because in the gym in the last sparring, he knows what I was telling him. Every round I was telling him that he had no balls, because when the [expletive] gets tougher, he has no balls. Every time it gets deeper and deeper, you saw what he did in the Nate Diaz fight. Who jumps in and takes someone to the ground against a black belt Brazilian Ju Jitsu, when you know you’re only chance to win is to stand up. Who takes it to the ground knowing that you’re going to get taken out? Why do you got to the ground?” said Malignaggi.
It was a pretty interesting little confrontation between Malignaggi and McGregor.
