No Hype pound-for-pound List

Image: No Hype pound-for-pound ListBy Ken Wills: This is my opinion based upon who they have beaten, and pure boxing skills not hype. It’s funny how after Floyd Mayweather Jr. retired last September all of a sudden fighters who weren’t even considered in the pound for pound discussion suddenly ended up number 1 or 2 or 3 without even fighting a champion former champion or Hall of Famer to get their spot.

Gennady Golovkin, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Roman Gonzalez and Terence Crawford all look to me like they could be number one pound for pound, but you have to take that spot by beating the best, and they haven’t had their opportunity to prove that they are the best in the ring.

1. Andre Ward
2. Canelo Alvarez
3. Miguel Cotto
4. Manny Pacquiao
5. Timothy Bradley
6. Sergey Kovalev
7. Gennady Golovkin
8. Guillermo Rigondeaux
9. Roman Gonzalez
10. Terence Crawford

Light heavyweight world champion Kovalev beat Bernard Hopkins decisively in 2014 by a 12 round unanimous decision, Tim Bradley, Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto have proven that they belong right at the top over their career. Who would you take in the welterweight Division to beat either of them. Canelo has been in there with the best, maybe they were smaller guys but he beat them, Cotto was not effective at all in there fight. And Andre Ward, check his resume. I could care less about how active he has been, cleaned out his division then beat Chad Dawson easily. No doubt he’s number one.

I cannot understand why so many of these experts put guys the the pound for pound list without allowing them to work their way up and prove how great they are, and meanwhile eliminate fighters that have proven how great they are based on one loss. This is my opinion, I’m sure a lot of you will disagree.
