by Cathal Jennings: Recently I caught up with Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne who faces Ruslan Chagaev on March 5th for the WBA Heavyweight Title. See what he has to say about March 5th, Making history and receiving support from some of the biggest names in Boxing.

CJ: March 5th isn’t far away now how have preparations been going for the biggest fight of your career?

LB: Preparation is going beyond good at the minute. It’s all coming together well and I couldn’t be happier.

CJ: What would it mean to you to become the first Australian World Heavyweight Champion in history?

LB: It would mean some history for me and my family, the obvious spoils and bigger fights after that and hopefully a better future.

CJ: How do you feel about going into this fight as underdog?

LB: I’m the underdog and that’s completely fine with me. It will all depend on what chagaev turns up.

CJ: I’m sure you are treating this like any other fight but how confident are you of going into his back yard and taking home the Title?

LB: I’m more confident because I’m better prepared, I’m lighter, fitter and in the best shape of my life.

CJ: There has been a real shake up in the Heavyweight division, do you think thid is a good thing for Heavyweight Boxing?

LB: I think it’s the best thing for the division at the minute and I think everyone is getting excited again.

CJ: How does it feel to get advice from some of the biggest names in Boxing?

LB: Joe Bugner, Larry holmes, Hasim Rahman, and Riddick Bowe, how good is that. I’m happy for their words and support and am ready to do the job.

CJ: What do you think of the American Champions Deontay Wilder and Prince Charles Martin?

LB: Wilder is a windmill specialist who throws himself off balance and has fought easier fights. I see Martin doing the same thing.

CJ: Do you have a message to all your fans across the world who will be supporting you on March 5th?

LB: It’s on AWE I’m the USA, Boxnation on the UK, Main Event here in Australia so tune in and watch history being made.
