BOXINGBy Gerardo Granados: Today at the last conference press conference for the super bantam IBF Carl Frampton versus WBA Scott Quigg bout, things got interesting during the face off. I believe that you should never argue over a dressing room, unless you are a movie star, a rock singer or a boxing diva, but if you were a prize fighter then you should just throw a coin to decide it.

On times press conferences can become boring; once I heard the champion ask to the audience to not fall asleep. But the boxing gods never forget about us the savage blood thirsty fight fans and give us something to keep us interested.

Maybe the reader was the guy or the friend who either started the fight or was the first one to join it. But on times it was necessary to prevent the fight or to break it. You do whatever you need to do to break it, but if you want to prevent it then you should pull your guy and don’t threaten the counterpart. If you push you are engaging, even worst if you use that tone of voice and eye ball the counterpart.

Promoter Eddie Hearn reacted and pushed off Carl Frampton when he and Scott Quigg argued during their face off and started shoving each other. Then Frampton exchanged a few words with Hearn who in my opinion looked menacing towards Carl. It was a big surprise for me that no one from Frampton team pushed Hearn back. I wonder if Promoter Eddie Hearn would have had the same attitude and had pushed Tyson Fury. Although I am certain that trainer Peter Fury would not have allowed Hearn to push his son.

I expected that the fight between super bantamweights IBF Carl Frampton versus WBA Scott Quigg would be good; I even dared to believe it has fight of the year potential, due both fighters are in their prime and also are boxing skills even. But now I am convinced this is a true title fight. I hate it when boxers act too polite to each other, I rather watch them stare at each other like Mike Tyson once did or even better see them act the way Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales always did previous their fights.

This bout is too close in my eyes so I prefer not to pick a winner, a boxer ability can nullify the other and they better be ready to adjust during the fight. The one who makes the first mistake could end facing the lamps. At the end it could depend on who wants it the most.
So next Saturday we the fight fans better be ready. On this side of the Atlantic it will be a good time of the day to have a few beers and a good meal to watch the fight. I friend of mine agreed with me that this one has fight of the year potential, but what about the reader, do you agree?
