Tyson Fury says he’ll KO Anthony Joshua, wants the fight

fury1000By Scott Gilfoid: IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) might look to face #2 WBC Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) later this year if he can get past former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in a rematch.

It was thought that Fury would look to face WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder or IBF champion Charles Martin later this year in a unification fight. Surprisingly, Fury is jabbering about wanting to get inside the ring with Joshua, who looked terrible in his last fight against Dillian Whyte last December.

I guess Fury finally sat down and watched the Joshua-Whyte fight and saw how vulnerable Joshua is, and how poor his stamina looks. I smell cash out with Fury. I think he’s thinking of cashing out with a Joshua fight, and then going off and living a life of luxury with the cash he makes from the fight.

“That’s a fight that I want. It’s a fight that Joshua wants. It’s a fight Eddie Hearn wants,” Fury said to skysports.com. “When Joshua is ready, put him in the ring and I’ll lay him out, no bother. It’s just a matter of building him up, getting everybody to love him, building a big record and then I’ll take it from him and break him in. “That’s how it goes, unfortunately. Feed him to the lion.”

If the idea is to make the Fury-Joshua fight really big, then it might be a good idea for Fury to wait until Joshua actually beats some names before he starts speaking about wanting to fight him. I mean, Joshua needs to add a few pelts to his resume before a fight between him and Fury would be a really huge event in the UK.

If Joshua could beat the 35-year-old David Haye, then that would be a good start to making a name for himself. But that’s not enough though for Joshua, because he’s going to need at least two or three other big names for him to make a fight against Fury a big event.

Fury will need to do his part by winning all of his fights to stay unbeaten long enough for him and Joshua to meet in a mega-fight in the UK. That’s easier said than done, because Fury will need to be maneuvered around guys like Deontay Wilder and Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz. Those guys would both likely knock Fury into the upper deck of Wembley Stadium if they got him in the ring.

Fury doesn’t think Joshua should throw a bone to Haye, because he feels that the 35-year-old hasn’t done enough in his comeback to deserve a fight against Joshua. Haye was out of the ring for nearly four years before making a comeback recently and scoring a 1st round stoppage win over little known fringe contender Mark De Mori in a total massacre fight this this month on January 16.

“I think Joshua is a bit of a novice and struggled with Dillian Whyte. If Haye catches him early, it’s goodnight. It’s curtains,” Fury said. “But why should Joshua give Haye a chance? Haye has had one fight in three years and now wants a fight with a prospect.”
