Adonis Stevenson (27-1)as we all remember had a big 2013 and was the fighter of the year as Sergey Kovalev(28-0-1) would be elected as fighter of the year for 2014 by Ring Magazine. After some bad matchups for Stevenson and some inactivity for Sergey Kovalev in 2015 the time has come to settle the score. The prize? Becoming unified Light Heavyweight Champion of the world.
First thing first, Sergey Kovalev must get past Jean Pascal once again on January 30th to keep his career moving forward and take one step toward fighting Adonis Stevenson. From what I understand Sergey Kovalev vs Andre Ward is in the works for late 2016 and team Kovalev is trying to squeeze this mega fight right in between for the summer. Which could lead to a huge year for the Krusher.
Adonis Stevenson will be 38 when he meets with Sergey Kovalev this summer. As Kovalev will have a 6 year age advantage although he would be 32 when they meet. Stevenson would be closer to age 39. Adonis Stevenson will have a 5″ reach advantage as his reach is freakishly long for his division (77″) as oppose to Kovalev’s (72″). The twitter battle between these 2 have been going on for a few years now as fans are craving and pushing for these 2 to finally settle this war in the ring.
Superman vs. Krusher would be great for boxing and give us a fully unified champion, which has not been seen in recent memory. It’s safe to assume the fight will take place in Canada and one can only hope it does sooner rather than later. Their styles are different, their technique and skillsets along with their monstrous power guarantees us fans fireworks. The politics of Boxing leaves doubt, but I say let’s push this fight to become a reality and witness a battle of the Titans! Superman vs. Krusher might be one for the ages if it doesn’t end early.
