Image: Mayweather sees win over Pacquiao as proof that he’s TBEBy Chris Williams: Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) has been telling fans recently that he sees himself as the “The best Ever” [TBE] in terms of him being the greatest fighter of all-time. A lot of boxing fans have argued against Mayweather being TBE, because they feel that there are better fighters than him from the past that accomplished a great deal in their careers as far as the number of wins, and the type of dangerous fights that they took.

Mayweather justifies his title of TBE due to his win over Manny Pacquiao last May. Before that fight many boxing fans were saying that Pacquiao was the greatest fighter of the century, so Mayweather feels that his win over the Filipino fighter is proof that he’s TBE without a doubt.

“They gave him so many accolades and he’s ‘an all-time great’. So if he’s an all-time great, then what does that make me? If they’re saying he’s the fighter of the century, what does that make me?” Mayweather said.

I think Mayweather brings up a valid point. If boxing fans were showering Pacquiao with compliments before the Mayweather fight, saying that the Filipino fighter is the best fighter in the history of the sport, then it kind of goes without saying that Mayweather now much be TBE without question after he whipped Pacquiao on May 2nd in the “Fight of the Century” to take away Pacquiao’s title of being best fighter in the history of boxing. I’m just saying.

If Pacquiao was TBE ever in the minds of some fans, then doesn’t that make Mayweather TBE now that he’s beaten the Filipino fighter and reduced him to a guy that is now just making excuses for his loss.

“So when they do rate me and when my fight is over, the only thing I can do is believe in myself and believe in my skills,” Mayweather said. “I’m going to be ‘The Best Ever’ till the day I die.”

I agree with Mayweather. He beat the guy who a lot of fans thought was the best in the history of the sport, so now by extension that should make Mayweather TBE without question now. He whipped Pacquiao, and had him talking about his shoulder this and his shoulder that after the fight. That means Mayweather must be TBE.

It’s nice to be on top of the sport. Mayweather earned and now he can ride off into the sunset with his TBE title and enjoy his life. Mayweather did it the hard way by beating everyone that was put in front of him to get his wins and build his impressive legacy in the sport.

Pacquiao has nothing to be ashamed of in losing. He can proclaim himself as the No.2 in the sport of “The Best Ever” and that’s something he can be pleased about. There’s nothing wrong with being No.2 in boxing unless, of course, you’re No.1 like Mayweather is.

Mayweather will be finishing his career this Saturday night in a fight against a young and hungry Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fans can watch the fight on Showtime pay-per-view. It’s going for a very reasonable price of $64.99 for standard definition and $74.99 for high definition on pay-per-view.
