The two fighters had a long stare down with both of them jawing at each other. Alexander seemed to be the more relaxed of the two, and didn’t appear to take the stare down nearly as serious as Khan, who looked like he was trying to stare holes through Alexander for some reason.

Interim WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (23-0, 21 KOs) weighed in a pound under the limit at 146 pounds for his fight against Italy based contender Leonard Bundu (31-0-2, 11 KOs). For his part, Bundu, 40, weighed in at 146.5 pound.

“I’m going to beat Devon in a good fashion,” Khan said after the weigh-in.”

Speaking about a future dream fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr, Khan said “I’m not trying to be chasing. If the fight happens, it happens.”

Alexander said “He didn’t want to fight me last year because he thought he was going to lose.”

Thurman called out Mayweather after the weigh-in, saying “It’s not like he’ll knock me out. Who does he knock out?”

Instead of calling Mayweather out, Thurman needs to do his part to convince his adviser Al Haymon to start matching him against quality fighters that would put pressure on Mayweather to give Thurman a fight. With Thurman still spinning his wheels fighting guys like Julio Diaz and Jesus Soto-Karass, there’s really no reason for Mayweather to feel the need to face him.

Thurman still doesn’t have a big fan base in the United States, and it would be pretty much a waste of time for Mayweather to fight him right now. If Haymon would start matching Thurman against guys like Kell Brook, Khan, Marcos Maidana and Tim Bradley, then you could see Mayweather wanting to possibly give Thurman a fight. But as of right now, Thurman isn’t even on the map for Mayweather.
